Physical stabilization of DNA-based therapeutics

Drug Discovery Today, 2001
The development of non-viral vectors for gene delivery has primarily focused on improving the efficiency of gene transfer in vivo. Although there is clearly a need to improve delivery efficiency, studies also indicate that the physical stability of non-viral vectors is not nearly adequate for a marketable pharmaceutical product.

Physical stability of semisynthetic suppository bases

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1980
Changes in the melting range of several semisynthetic suppository bases were studied over time. X-ray diffraction studies characterized the changes as amorphous to crystalline transitions, with likely polymorphic effects occurring concurrently. Use of a modified Krowczynski apparatus to test pure base and single-ingredient suppositories showed dramatic

Physical Stabilization of Insulin by Glycosylation

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1995
The modification of human insulin by the covalent attachment of monosaccharide moieties to insulin amino group(s) alters the aggregation and self-association behavior, improving both the pharmaceutical stability and biological response. The synthesis of p-succinamidophenyl glucopyranoside-insulin conjugate(s) (SAPG-insulin) has resulted in seven ...

Polymer-Stabilized Emulsion Systems: Structural Characteristics and Physical Stability Evaluation

Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, 2003
In the course of investigation of the effects of polymeric emulsifier (Simulgel A) on the structural characteristics and physical stability (during storage time) of semisolid o/w emulsion systems with different emulsifier concentrations, dispersed droplets of an internal oil phase (4.5-11.5 microm size) were discovered.

Physical stability of nonviral plasmid-based therapeutics

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2000
Nonviral, plasmid-based therapeutics are a new class of pharmaceutical agents that offer the potential to cure many diseases that are currently considered untreatable. While nonviral vectors have shown promise in clinical trials, their physical instability in liquid formulations represents a major barrier to the development of these agents as ...

Chemical and Physical Stability of Microbially Stabilized Aggregates

Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1971
Abstract Chemical properties of microbially bound aggregates were determined by organic solvent extraction and by the rate of sonic dispersion of the aggregates. Seven fungi, six streptomycetes, and four bacteria, produced in situ chemically different binding agents which ...

Stability of Physical Performance Test Scores

Research Quarterly. American Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation, 1969
Abstract On each of three days 73 subjects were administered three trials of a standing broad jump test, and 48 subjects were administered five trials of a side-step test. A significant trial-to-trial variability within days was found for the side-step test.

The physics of sawtooth stabilization

Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2007
Long period sawteeth have been observed to result in low-beta triggering of neo-classical tearing modes, which can significantly degrade plasma confinement. Consequently, a detailed physical understanding of sawtooth behaviour is critical, especially for ITER where fusion-born a particles are likely to lead to very long sawtooth periods.

[Metastases compromising physical stability].

Der Chirurg; Zeitschrift fur alle Gebiete der operativen Medizen, 2000
Multimodal therapy of tumor patients with osseous metastases is an interdisciplinary task. The surgical treatment requires optimal integration, in terms of timing and extent of the procedure, into the overall treatment plan. In addition to surgery, modern therapeutic approaches include systemic chemotherapeutic, hormonal and immunological therapy ...

Ternary Derivations, Stability and Physical Aspects

Acta Applicandae Mathematicae, 2007
The author states some various definitions of ternary structures [cf. \textit{M. S. Moslehian}, Bull. Belg. Math. Soc. 14, No. 1, 135--142 (2007; Zbl 1132.39026), \textit{M. Amyari} and \textit{M. S. Moslehian} [Lett. Math. Phys. 77, No. 1, 1--9 (2006; Zbl 1112.39021)] and proves the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of ternary derivations ...
