Anti‐angiogenic effect of tetraacetyl‐phytosphingosine

Experimental Dermatology, 2007
Abstract:  In a search for the wound healing accelerators, we found that tetraacetyl‐phytosphingosine (TAPS), a sphingolipid metabolite produced by phytosphingosine acetylation, has significant inhibitory potential on healing of rabbit ear wound. As angiogenesis is fundamental to proper wound healing, we examined the effect of TAPS on angiogenesis ...

A synthesis of phytosphingosine from D-glucosamine

Tetrahedron Letters, 1965
D-ribo-2-Benzamido-1,3,4-trihydroxyoctadecane (N-benzoyl-C18-phytosphingosine) and D-ribo-2-benzamido-1,3,4-trihydroxyeicosane (N-benzoyl-C20-phytosphingosine) have been synthesised by Wittig reactions between the aldehyde (IX) derived from 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-glucose and the appropriate long-chain phosphoranes.

A rapid synthesis of sphingosine from phytosphingosine

Carbohydrate Research, 2018
A simple and efficient protocol for the synthesis of a sphingosine starting from cost-effective phytosphingosine has been described. Two alternative synthetic pathway have been disclosed based on the use of two different kinds of protective groups for the protection of the amino group in the phytosphingosine.

Divergent total synthesis of d-ribo-phytosphingosine and l-ribo-phytosphingosine from d-ribose

Tetrahedron, 2016
Abstract Divergent total synthesis of d -ribo-phytosphingosine (1) and l -ribo-phytosphingosine (2) was achieved from readily available d -ribose via cross-metathesis reaction, Wittig reaction, and diastereoselective amination reaction of allylic ethers using chlorosulfonyl isocyanate (CSI) as the key steps.

Novel organogelators based on phytosphingosine

Tetrahedron Letters, 2016
Novel organogelators using phytosphingosine as a platform were synthesized and their organogelation properties were examined. These gelators formed the organogels in alkanes, aromatic solvents, mineral oils, vegetable oils, and silicone oils. The organogels formed by the urea gelators were rigid and showed high thermal stability.

Phytosphingosine is a novel activator of GPR120

The Journal of Biochemistry, 2018
GPR120 is a receptor for long chain fatty acids and is expressed in small intestinal endocrine cells, L cells and adipose tissue. Activation of GPR120 promotes the secretion of incretin GLP-1, which is known to have effects on anti-metabolic syndrome. As such, GPR120 is a potential target of pharmaceuticals for type II diabetes.
