PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Complete mitochondrial genome of mouthbrooding fighting fish (Betta pi) compared with bubble nesting fighting fish (B. splendens)

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2018
Betta pi is the largest species of mouthbrooding fighting fish, while B. splendens is a globally ornamental bubble nesting fish. Complete mitochondrial genomes (mitogenomes) of wild individuals of B. pi and B. splendens were determined.

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Observation of the B c + → J / ψ π + π 0 $$ {B}_c^{+}\to J/\psi {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0 $$ decay

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The first observation of the B c + → J / ψ π + π 0 $$ {B}_c^{+}\to J/\psi {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^0 $$ decay is reported with high significance using proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb −1, collected with the LHCb ...

Antiretroviral Therapy with Ritonavir-Boosted Atazanavir- and Lopinavir-Containing Regimens Correlates with Diminished HIV-1 Neutralization

open access: yesVaccines
Background/Objectives: The impact of virion maturation on neutralizing antibody responses in HIV treatment is not fully understood. This study examines whether antiretroviral regimens (ART) with boosted protease inhibitors (b-PI), which increase exposure

Molecular screening for the presence of Magnaporthe oryzae resistance Pi-b gene in rice hybrids

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Blast is a rice disease that affects all above-ground parts of the plant, such as nodes, stems, panicles, leaves, etc. Damage to these plant organs negatively affects the developmental stage, that is, the growing season of the plant. As a result, it is the reason for the formation of puny seeds and decreased productivity.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Proteomics reveals the significance of vacuole Pi transporter in the adaptability of Brassica napus to Pi deprivation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Vacuolar Pi transporters (VPTs) have recently been identified as important regulators of cellular Pi status in Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa. In the oil crop Brassica napus, BnA09PHT5;1a and BnC09PHT5;1a are two homologs of AtPHT5;1, the vacuolar
