[PI3K inhibitor].

Gan to kagaku ryoho. Cancer & chemotherapy, 2011
PI3K-Akt is an important signal transduction pathway which acts downstream from various growth factor receptors. The PI3K-Akt pathway is activated in many types of cancers by several mechanisms, including growth factor receptor activation, loss of PTEN, and PI3K gene mutations. Therefore, PI3K is thought to be an ideal therapeutic target.

PI3K/Akt signaling in osteosarcoma

Clinica Chimica Acta, 2015
Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common nonhematologic bone malignancy in children and adolescents. Despite the advances of adjuvant chemotherapy and significant improvement of survival, the prognosis remains generally poor. As such, the search for more effective anti-OS agents is urgent.

PI3K Pathway in Gynecologic Malignancies

American Society of Clinical Oncology Educational Book, 2013
Alterations in PI3K signaling are common in gynecologic malignancies. Alterations detected vary with gynecologic cancer type, histologic subtypes within these, and clinical phenotypes. The distinction into type I and type II endometrial and ovarian carcinomas is reflected in distribution of changes detected in several of the PI3K members.

The role of PI3K in immune cells

Nature Immunology, 2003
Members of the phosphoinositide-3 kinase (PI3K) family control several cellular responses including cell growth, survival, cytoskeletal remodeling and the trafficking of intracellular organelles in many different types of cell. In particular PI3K has important functions in the immune system. It has been difficult to evaluate the roles of distinct PI3Ks

Novel inhibitors of the PI3K family

Expert Opinion on Investigational Drugs, 2009
PI3K is an important node regulating the signaling of several essential biological processes. PI3K catalyzes the phosphorylation in position 3 of the inositol ring of phosphatidyl-inositide producing important lipid second messengers. The products of PI3K activity recruit PDK1 and AKT Ser/Thr kinases to the plasma membrane where they get activated ...
