Multi‐level Implementation of International Law: The Role of Vertical Epistemic Communities

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, Volume 29, Issue 4, Page 399-421, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Subnational entities in federal states typically retain a degree of sovereignty and enjoy leeway in implementation, raising questions such as whether—and how—international law is actually implemented at the subnational level. This article sheds light on these questions, using two contrasted case studies in Switzerland: The Istanbul Convention ...

The influence of redox modulation on hypoxic endothelial cell metabolic and proteomic profiles through a small thiol‐based compound tuning glutathione and thioredoxin systems

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 49, Issue 6, Page 1205-1222, November/December 2023., 2023
The intracellular redox state of endothelial cells facing low oxygen and oxidative stress was regulated via the pro‐glutathione molecule I‐152, a co‐drug of N‐acetylcysteine and cysteamine. The principal redox couples, GSH/GSSG, and NAD(P)+/NAD(P)H were affected by hypoxia and in turn, modulated with I‐152.

Dexamethasone induces p21cip1/waf1 expression via FoxO3a independently of the Lamin A/C‐HDAC2 interaction in Ataxia Telangiectasia

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, Volume 13, Issue 8, Page 1459-1468, August 2023., 2023
Ataxia Telangiectasia (A‐T) is a rare genetic disease caused by ATM mutations. In A‐T cells treated with dexamethasone, a drug employed in the clinic to alleviate symptoms, the expression of p21cip1/waf1 is independent of HDAC2 accumulation on the CDKN1A promoter, which is discordant with outcomes previously reported in other cellular models.

Perceptions and imaginaries about the fourth industrial revolution between geographies of opportunity and discontent: Some reflections on the Italian case

open access: yesThe Geographical Journal, Volume 189, Issue 2, Page 342-356, June 2023., 2023
Short Abstract This paper aims to contribute to the analysis of the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, focusing on the perceptions of changes and exploring new methods of analysis of the geography of opportunity and discontent. Based on Sentiment Analysis, the empirical analysis identifies both positive and negative opinions expressed by the ...

Gaming the System: Tactical Workarounds and the Production of Antagonistic Subjectivities among Migrant Platform Workers in Italy

open access: yesAntipode, Volume 55, Issue 3, Page 877-896, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Our article explores how migrant food delivery couriers work around platform algorithmic control to argue that gaming the system is a form of everyday resistance. Drawing on data collected in Turin, Italy, between August 2020 and June 2021, we examine how, on the one hand, through gamification, food delivery platforms construct the couriers as

Synthesis of Orbital Angular Momentum Antennas for Target Localization

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 58, Issue 2, February 2023., 2023
Abstract The exploitation of Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) is proposed to design circular‐support continuous aperture distributions and concentric‐ring arrays for target‐localization applications. The proposed approach allows generating a single isolated null of the field in the target direction, which is of interest with respect to common techniques ...

A high‐impact meso‐beta vortex in the Adriatic Sea

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 149, Issue 751, Page 637-656, January 2023 Part B., 2023
At about 2100 UTC, November 12, 2019, a small warm‐core cyclone, formed in the central Adriatic Sea, made landfall near Venice and was responsible for an exceptional high tide. Convection and sea‐surface fluxes did not play a significant role in the cyclone development, notwithstanding its low‐level warm core.

Discovery of Benzo[d]imidazole‐6‐sulfonamides as Bromodomain and Extra‐Terminal Domain (BET) Inhibitors with Selectivity for the First Bromodomain

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 17, Issue 20, October 19, 2022., 2022
Bioisosteric replacement of the azobenzene moiety of selective BET inhibitors with a benzimidazole ring afforded a set of benzimidazole‐6‐sulfonamides. Evaluation of the binding activity against diverse BRD families endorses the benzimidazole as a useful scaffold to obtain compounds with improved selectivity towards the first bromodomains of BET family
