BIMODAL PIECEWISE LINEAR DYNAMICAL SYSTEMS: REDUCED FORMS

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2010
Piecewise linear systems constitute a class of nonlinear systems which have recently attracted the interest of researchers because of their interesting properties and the wide range of applications from which they arise. Different authors have used reduced forms when studying these systems, mostly in the case where they are observable. In this work, we

Stabilization of orthogonal piecewise linear systems using piecewise linear Lyapunov-like functions

Proceedings of the 37th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (Cat. No.98CH36171), 2002
In this paper the problem of asymptotic stabilization of orthogonal piecewise linear (OPL) systems is considered. OPL systems arise when the state-space is partitioned into a number of distinct regions by hyperplanes orthogonal to the states. Different regions possess different continuous linear affine dynamics.

Dynamics Analysis of Llibre-Menezes Piecewise Linear Systems

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems, 2021
This paper deals with the dynamical analysis for the Llibre-Menezes piecewise linear systems. The authors give explicit parameter conditions for the existence of limit cycles and stable sliding segments, and prove the global asymptotical stability of equilibrium under the continuity of the vector field.

Output regulation of piecewise linear systems

2008 Chinese Control and Decision Conference, 2008
This paper proposes the output regulation method for piecewise linear systems with dynamic error-feedback based on piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions technique. By constructing piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions for the closed-loop augmented systems, the existence of the output regulation controller is cast as the feasibility of a set of ...

Controllability of piecewise linear descriptor systems

Proceedings of the 2004 American Control Conference, 2004
The controllability of piecewise linear descriptor systems is considered in this paper. Necessary and sufficient geometric criteria for C-controllability and R-controllability of such systems are established, respectively. These conditions can be easily transformed into algebraic form. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between our results and the

Chaos in piecewise-linear systems

Physical Review A, 1983
A new class of physical systems, those which can be described by piecewise-linear equations, are found to exhibit chaotic behavior similar to that found in previously investigated nonlinear dissipative systems. The example of a damped, sinusoidally forced harmonic oscillator with two possible spring-constant values is investigated in detail. The system

Analyzing piecewise linear dynamical systems

IEEE Control Systems, 1995
This article presents a method of analyzing mixed logic/dynamic systems. The article describes the development of a computational tool for the analysis of piecewise linear (PL) dynamical systems. Unfortunately, many PL controllers are developed from ad hoc "intelligent systems" ideas which do not aim or allow the associated dynamic behavior to be ...

Piecewise Linear Control of Nonlinear Systems

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics and Control Instrumentation, 1976
Using a Taylor series expansion, nonlinear control systems are approximated about desired equilibrium points in state space as linear control systems. The techniques of the linear regulator problem are then used to calculate the linear state variable feedback gains needed to keep the system at the desired equilibrium point.

Stability of impulsive piecewise linear systems

International Journal of Systems Science, 2013
In this article, stability of impulsive piecewise linear systems is investigated and a number of stability criteria are obtained based on Lyapunov functions. Both the stability results that impulses act as perturbation and the stability results that impulses act as stabiliser are given.

Optimization of Piecewise Linear Control Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2001
Abstract A problem of optimization of piecewise linear control systems is considered. On the base of methods of solving linear optimal control problems and operations of parametric optimization a dual method of constructing optimal open-loop controls is elaborated. An algorithm of operating an optimal controller is proposed.
