TEMPERATURE EFFECTS ON SHORT SEASON PIGEONPEAS. [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1990
Five early maturing pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) genotypes; ICPL 146 1985HK, ICPL 87 Isolation (85K), ICPL 85010, ICPL 85024 and ICPL 8304 were evaluated in a growth chamber study and in a greenhouse/outdoor study. Genotypes grown in growth chanter at 25/15°C, day/night with 14 hour photoperid and light intensity of 480 μEm-2sec-1, produced 5-7 main stem ...

Delineation of loci governing an extra‐earliness trait in lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) using the QTL‐Seq approach

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 22, Issue 10, Page 2932-2949, October 2024.
Summary Developing early maturing lentil has the potential to minimize yield losses, mainly during terminal drought. Whole‐genome resequencing (WGRS) based QTL‐seq identified the loci governing earliness in lentil. The genetic analysis for maturity duration provided a good fit to 3:1 segregation (F2), indicating earliness as a recessive trait.

On-farm management and participatory evaluation of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan [L.] Millspaugh) diversity across the agro-ecological zones of the Republic of Benin

open access: yesJournal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine, 2020
Pigeonpea is a multipurpose food legume crop that contributes to food security in the Republic of Benin. For the establishment of conservation and breeding programs, previous ethnobotanical surveys on pigeonpea were done in Benin but restricted to south ...

Comprehensive molecular evolutionary analysis of small heat shock proteins in five diploid Gossypium species

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 17, Issue 3, September 2024.
Abstract The small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) are important components in plant growth and development, and stress response. However, a systematical understanding of the sHSP family is yet to be reported in five diploid Gossypium species. In this study, 34 GlsHSPs, 36 GrsHSPs, 37 GtsHSPs, 37 GasHSPs, and 38 GhesHSPs were identified in Gossypium ...

Use made of wild legume relatives in breeding [PDF]

open access: yes
Presently vast genetic resources are available for improvement of the main crops used by humans and animals. The ex-situ collections safeguard those resources collected in the past, although not all collections are safe even today as far as personnel and

Role of trichomes on leaves and pods for imparting resistance in chickpea [Cicer arientinum (L.)] genotypes against Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In chickpea, trichomes provide a potential resistance mechanism against Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner). The present study was conducted to evaluate the trichome density and trichome length on leaves and pods on nine genotypes of chickpea.

Tissue specific disruption of photosynthetic electron transport rate in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L.) under elevated temperature

open access: yesPlant Signalling & Behavior, 2019
Nutritional rich pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan [L.]), a perennial shrub member of family Fabaceae is the sixth most important grain legume of the world. Continuous rise of temperature and current global climate scenario limits plant growth and performance but

Chromosome‐level reference genome and resequencing of 322 accessions reveal evolution, genomic imprint and key agronomic traits in adzuki bean

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 22, Issue 8, Page 2173-2185, August 2024.
Summary Adzuki bean (Vigna angularis) is an important legume crop cultivated in over 30 countries worldwide. We developed a high‐quality chromosome‐level reference genome of adzuki bean cultivar Jingnong6 by combining PacBio Sequel long‐read sequencing with short‐read and Hi‐C technologies.
