Varicella‐zoster virus pneumonia co‐infected with Pneumocystis jirovecii

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, 2022
Key message Pulmonary co‐infection with varicella‐zoster virus (VZV) and Pneumocystis jirovecii (PJ) is uncommon. This case describes computed tomography (CT) findings of VZV pneumonia co‐infected with PJ. Co‐infection of VZV and PJ pneumonia is possible

Implementing Health‐Related Quality of Life Assessment in Pediatric Oncology: A Feasibility Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background There is growing interest in embedding health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) assessment and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs) within clinical cancer care. This study evaluated the feasibility, acceptability, and usability of implementing an electronic PROM (ePROM) platform to measure HRQoL in children with cancer ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Early assessment of treatment response in primary biliary cholangitis: key to timely management

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Aim The aim of our study was to explore predictive factors associated with compete biochemical response (CBR) in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) patients treated with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) at month 12 and at last check-up; CBR was defined as both

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
