Hyperelastic Starch Hydrogel Configures Edible and Biodegradable All‐Components for Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hyperelastic starch hydrogel is tailored via a phase separation strategy of solvent‐antisolvent co‐modulation. The mechanical performance of starch hydrogel is widely tuned with maximum strains: 194.4–361.4%; maximum tensile stresses: 34–192 kPa; and Young's moduli: 36.0–205.8 kPa. Notably, the hydrogel achieves complete soil degradation within 24 days

Strawberry Notch 1 Acts as a Transcriptional Regulator Driving Oncogenic Programs in Liver Carcinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports that SBNO1 protein is upregulated in several cancer entities. SBNO1 protein interacts with the basal transcription factor TFIID via TAF4, enabling its recruitment to transcription start sites and the modulation of target gene expression.

A comparative nutritional life cycle assessment of processed and unprocessed soy-based meat and milk alternatives including protein quality adjustment

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems
Efforts towards sustainable food systems have stimulated the development of plant-based alternatives to meat and milk. However, the debate on the nutritional quality of (processed) plant products compared to animal products remains unresolved, and ...

Safety in plant-based meat alternatives

open access: yes
Introduction: modern food trends have evolved towards a consumer preference for plant-based products. Plant-based meat analogues have emerged as a promising alternative to traditional cold meats such as ham1. Health concerns and consumers’ search for healthy options with reduced animal protein, fat, salt and cholesterol are the main reasons for the ...

PD‐1 Inhibits CD4+ TRM‐Mediated cDC1 Mobilization via Suppressing JAML in Human NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CD4+ tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRMs) in non‐small cell lung cancer recruit conventional type 1 dendritic cells via XCL1‐XCR1 signaling, orchestrating antitumor immunity. The costimulatory molecule JAML is essential for this process. PD‐1 blockade restores JAML expression and cDC1 mobilization, while JAML agonists synergize with anti‐PD‐1 therapy,

CellPolaris: Transfer Learning for Gene Regulatory Network Construction to Guide Cell State Transitions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CellPolaris decodes how transcription factors guide cell fate by building gene regulatory networks from transcriptomic data using transfer learning. It generates tissue‐ and cell‐type‐specific networks, identifies master regulators in cell state transitions, and simulates TF perturbations in developmental processes.

VALUE-AT-RISK AND FOOD SAFETY LOSSES IN TURKEY PROCESSING [PDF]

open access: yes
Food safety risks and microbial outbreaks have significant health impacts on society as a whole, as well as economic loss to food processing firms. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), an estimated 76 million foodborne illnesses occur

Red Blood Cells Internalize Extracellular DNA via Apoptotic Bodies with Clinical Relevance to Cancer Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mature red blood cells (RBCs) can capture extracellular DNA, with short fragments homologous to cfDNA. This uptake is mediated by apoptotic bodies, which induce RBC oxidative stress, deformation, and accelerated in vivo clearance. The rbcDNA abundance correlates with tumor burden and therapeutic response, highlighting its potential as a liquid biopsy ...

An Opto‐Actuated Hydrogel for Cell Mechanoactuation and Real‐Time Force Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Researchers developed a mechanoactuated hydrogel interface where nanomachines exert forces on adhesion receptors and allow monitoring of traction force responses in real time. They demonstrate reversible talin recruitment, enhanced F‐actin polymerization, and a reduction in cell traction force when force is locally applied to focal adhesions of ...
