Scion on a stock producing siRNAs of potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd) attenuates accumulation of the viroid. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Plants can attenuate the replication of plant viruses and viroids by RNA silencing induced by virus and viroid infection. In higher plants, silencing signals such as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) produced by RNA silencing can be transported ...

From Many, One: Genetic Control of Prolificacy during Maize Domestication [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Genetics 2013 9(6): e1003604, 2013
A reduction in number and an increase in size of inflorescences is a common aspect of plant domestication. When maize was domesticated from teosinte, the number and arrangement of ears changed dramatically. Teosinte has long lateral branches that bear multiple small ears at their nodes and tassels at their tips.

GENETICALLY MODIFIED PLANTS EXPRESSING PROTEINASE INHIBITORS, SAPINA2A OR SAPIN2B, AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF FOR THE INHIBITION OF TRYPSIN-AND CHYMOTRYPSIN-LIKE ACTIVITIES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The present invention relates to proteinase inhibitor II genes, SaPIN2a and SaPIN2b, their production in transformed plants, and isolation of SaPIN2a and SaPIN2b proteins from transformed plants of the invention.

Spot‐14 and its paralog Spot‐14R regulate expression of metabolic and thermogenic pathway genes in murine brown and beige adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Spot‐14 and Spot‐14R play distinct roles in regulating metabolism in brown and beige adipocytes. While both influence lipid and glucose pathways, Spot‐14 uniquely controls thermogenic gene expression. This dual regulation balances energy storage and heat production, highlighting potential therapeutic targets for obesity and metabolic disorders. Spot 14

Cryopreservation of seeds of blue waterlily (Nymphaea caerulea) using glutathione adding plant vitrification solution, PVS+ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Nymphaea caerulea is a valuable freshwater aquatic plant, not only because of its ornamental value but also its extractions for chemical and medical uses. It is necessary to store its seeds as backup resources. Cryopreservation is the reliable, cost-effective method for long-term preservation of botanical genetic banks, especially for recalcitrant ...

A cellular system to study responses to a collision between the transcription complex and a protein‐bound nick in the DNA template

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present the cellular transcription‐coupled Flp‐nick system allowing the introduction of a Top1‐mimicking cleavage complex (Flpcc) at a Flp recognition target site within a controllable LacZ gene. LacZ transcription leads to the collision of RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) with Flpcc, and this causes RNAPII stalling, ubiquitination, and degradation.

Machine Learning Methods to Analyze Arabidopsis Thaliana Plant Root Growth [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
One of the challenging problems in biology is to classify plants based on their reaction on genetic mutation. Arabidopsis Thaliana is a plant that is so interesting, because its genetic structure has some similarities with that of human beings. Biologists classify the type of this plant to mutated and not mutated (wild) types.

HydroPower Plant Planning for Resilience Improvement of Power Systems using Fuzzy-Neural based Genetic Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
This paper will propose a novel technique for optimize hydropower plant in small scale based on load frequency control (LFC) which use self-tuning fuzzy Proportional- Derivative (PD) method for estimation and prediction of planning. Due to frequency is not controlled by any dump load or something else, so this power plant is under dynamic frequency ...

Detection of triplex PCR for the modified qualitative soybean and maize genetically [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A molecular screening method based on multiplex PCR that involves amplification of specific soybean or maize sequences from plant DNA (lectin or zein) and the amplification of 35S promoter and NOS terminator, for the detection of genetically modified ...
