Orthogonal Ionic Liquid‐Based Extraction Strategy Enables Amyloid‐Specific Profiling of Aggregate Proteome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An orthogonal ionic‐liquid extraction (Orth‐iEA) enables selective isolation of amyloid fibrils. TMGBF4 disrupts hydrogen‐bonded β‐sheet networks to solubilize amyloid aggregates, whereas C12ImCl interacts with hydrophobic regions of non‐amyloid proteins.

Activity of anti-H3 mabs in plaque reduction assay on MDCK cells.

open access: yes, 2013
mAb 7A7 (A), 12D1 (B) and 39A4 (C) neutralize all H3 viruses tested by plaque reduction assay but not representative H1, H4 or H7 viruses. Purified mouse IgG was used for the negative control. The plaque reduction assays were performed multiple times and

A Plaque Assay for Feline Panleukopenia Virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1980
Plaque formation with representative strains of feline panleukopenia virus (FPV) has been obtained using a permanent line of feline kidney cells under agarose overlay. FPV-infected cells appear as white plaques after neutral red staining. Plaque size is determined by the extent of cell division in the infected monolayer.

Divergent Roles of mGlu2 and mGlu3 Receptors in Amyloid‐β Production and Cognitive Dysfunctions in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study explores the opposing effects of the mGluR2 and mGluR3 receptors on amyloid precursor protein processing. mGluR2 promotes amyloidogenic cleavage, while mGluR3 favors non‐amyloidogenic pathways. Using a brain‐penetrant nanobody as a mGluR2 positive allosteric modulator, the study uncovers how its chronic activation aggravates amyloid‐β burden

Ecdysteroid Secreting Cells Indentified by Reverse Haemolytic Plaque Assay

open access: yes, 2011
Ecdysteroide spielen eine entscheidende Rolle in der hormonellen Regulation der Entwicklung von Arthropoden. Sie werden von einer spezialisierten Hormondrüse, der so genannten Prothorakaldrüse, sezerniert.

Oral Motion‐Powered Smart Dental Implant Abutment for In Situ Antibacterial and Cell Adhesion Through Piezoelectric Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We proposed a method based on the piezoelectric effect and fabricated an implant abutment on the basis of piezoelectric ceramic. Under physiological occlusal pressure, the oral motion‐powered smart dental implant abutments interacted with water and oxygen, promoting the formation of reactive oxygen species and achieving a synergistic and highly ...

Lilrb4a Suppression Reprograms Microglia to Mitigate APOE4‐Associated Amyloid Plaques and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy in Association With a PPAR‐Linked Pro‐Clearance State

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Targeting Lilrb4a in Apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4)‐associated Alzheimer's disease (AD) reprograms microglia toward a beneficial, phagocytic state. Genetic deletion or antisense inhibition of Lilrb4a suppresses p‐SHP2/NF‐κB/STAT1 signaling, restores PPAR‐linked lipid and energy metabolism, and reduces amyloid plaque burden and cerebral amyloid angiopathy ...
