Anodic Plasma Electrolytic Nitrocarburizing of Low-Carbon Steel
Advanced Materials Research, 2013Alternating surface oxide and hardened layers were fabricated by means of anodic plasma nitrocarburizing of low-carbon steel in aqueous ammonium chloride/carbamide solutions. The effect of electrolyte composition and treatment conditions on the phase characteristics, structure and properties of the surface layers was studied.

Plasma post-oxidation of nitrocarburized SUM 24L steel
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2007Abstract Plasma nitrocarburizing and plasma oxidizing treatments were performed to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of SUM 24L steel. Plasma nitrocarburizing was conducted for 3 h at 570 °C in the nitrogen, hydrogen and methane atmosphere to produce the ɛ-Fe2–3(N, C) phase.

Features of electrolytic-plasma nitrocarburizing of steel with a relief surface
Physics and Chemistry of Materials TreatmentAnodic electrolytic-plasma nitrocarburizing of corrosion-resistant steel proceeds many times faster than a similar process without gas discharges. A feature of such processing of samples with a rough surface is a significant dependence of the thickness ...

Plasma post oxidation of nitrocarburized hot work steel samples
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2004Abstract Pulse plasma oxidation of untreated, salt bath nitrocarburized and plasma nitrided/nitrocarburized samples made of hot work steel grade H11 was investigated. A continuous multi-step plasma processing was performed consisting of a half an hour plasma nitriding at 520 °C followed by 3.5 h nitrocarburizing at the same temperature and by a ...

Duplex treatments of plasma nitrocarburizing and post-oxidation in an adiabatic plasma furnace
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2007Abstract The duplex treatments of plasma nitrocarburizing plus post-oxidation have been carried out in a self-made adiabatic plasma furnace. The sample material is medium carbon steel AISI 1045. The compound layers are made up of Fe 3 O 4 oxide layer, Fe 2–3 N compound layer and Fe 4 N diffusion layer.

Plasma (Ion) Nitriding and Nitrocarburizing of Steels
2013AbstractPlasma (ion) nitriding is a method of surface hardening using glow-discharge technology to introduce nascent (elemental) nitrogen to the surface of a metal part for subsequent diffusion into the material. This article describes the procedures and applications of plasma nitriding methods of steel.

Effect of Methane Addition on Formation of Plasma Nitrocarburized Layers
Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis, 2016Plasma nitrocarburizing is a thermochemical process that can be used to improve the mechanical properties of metal surfaces by enriching them with carbon and nitrogen atoms. The quantity of carbon in the plasma primarily affects the formation of the microstructure of the compound layer.
