Plasma post oxidation of nitrocarburized AISI 4140 steel
Rare Metals, 2006Abstract Plasma nitrocarburizing and plasma oxidizing treatments were performed to improve the wear and corrosion resistance of AISI 4140 steel. Plasma nitrocarburizing was conducted for 3 h at 570 °C in the nitrogen, hydrogen and methane atmosphere to produce the ɛ-Fe 2–3 (N, C) phase.

Wear resistance evaluation of plasma nitrocarburized AISI 316L stainless steel
Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2003Abstract Nitrocarburization is a thermal chemical process in which the nitrogen and carbon atoms are diffused into the surface of the workpiece simultaneously at the temperature around the eutectoid point (565 °C) of FeCN. It can be applied for improving the properties of the work such as wear and seizure resistance, fatigue strength and hardness ...

Direct Mid-Infrared Frequency Comb Spectroscopy of Nitrocarburizing Plasma Processes
Light, Energy and the Environment 2018 (E2, FTS, HISE, SOLAR, SSL), 2018We report on mid-infrared broadband direct frequency comb spectroscopy as a novel plasma diagnostic applied to spectroscopic investigations of plasma nitrocarburizing processes. We discuss the parameter-dependent behavior of species like HCN, CH4, and NH3.

Effect of Electrolyte Composition on Characteristics of Plasma Electrolysis Nitrocarburizing
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, 2013In this article, the effect of electrolyte composition on the characteristics of generated layer by plasma electrolytic nitrocarburizing process is studied. The characterization of the layer was carried out by means of SEM, x-ray diffraction, and EIS techniques.

Plasma Nitriding and Nitrocarburizing of Austempered S.G. Cast Iron
1990The effects of varying austempering parameters on the response of S.G. cast iron to plasma nitriding and nitrocarburizing was studied. The ideal austempered microstructure of bainite and austenite yielded poor compound layers and the shallowest case depth.

Effect of CH4 addition on plasma nitrocarburizing of austenitic stainless steel
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2003Abstract This article evaluates the influence of the plasma atmosphere composed of different ratios of N2/H2/CH4 on the micro-structures, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of 304L and 316L austenitic stainless steels. DC power with a bias voltage in the range of 250–350 V was applied between the vessel (anode) and the work (cathode).

Effect of electrolyte depletion on characteristics of anodic plasma electrolytic nitrocarburizing
Surface Engineering and Applied Electrochemistry, 2015This article considers changes in the composition of aqueous electrolytes containing ammonia chloride and urea during plasma electrolytic nitrocarburizing of low-carbon steels. The main purpose is the identification of the transport mechanism of nitrogen and carbon atoms movement from the urea into treated low-carbon steel. The effect of changes in the
