Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Enhanced Electrochemical CO2 Reduction Using Nonthermal Plasma: Insights into Pd Catalyst Reactivation and Precise Control of H2O2 for Improved CO2 Reduction Reaction Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Energy & Sustainability Research
This study investigates the electrochemical reduction of CO2 on Pd/C with in situ‐generated H2O2 through low‐temperature nonthermal plasma. Catalyst deactivation, a common challenge in CO2 conversion, is addressed by leveraging the oxidizing environment ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Stability of two-dimensional ion-acoustic wave packets in quantum plasmas

open access: yes, 2011
The nonlinear propagation of two-dimensional (2D) quantum ion-acoustic waves (QIAWs) is studied in a quantum electron–ion plasma. By using a 2D quantum hydrodynamic model and the method of multiple scales, a new set of coupled nonlinear partial ...

Finite-time integral sliding mode control for chaotic permanent magnet synchronous motor systems

open access: yesArchives of Electrical Engineering, 2017
In this paper, an integral finite-time sliding mode control scheme is presented for controlling a chaotic permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). The controller can stabilize the system output tracking error to zero in a finite time.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Optical and electrical properties of polymerizing plasmas and their correlation with DLC film properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films were grown from radiofrequency plasmas of acetylene-argon mixtures, at different excitation powers, P. The effects of this parameter on the plasma potential, electron density, electron temperature, and plasma activity were

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Nonaxisymmetric magnetorotational instability in ideal and viscous plasmas

open access: yes, 2008
The excitation of magnetorotational instability (MRI) in rotating laboratory plasmas is investigated. In contrast to astrophysical plasmas, in which gravitation plays an important role, in laboratory plasmas it can be neglected and the plasma rotation is

Plasma Filtration

open access: yesAnnals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, 2005
Therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) or plasmapheresis involves the separation of plasma from whole blood. In so doing, plasma-borne humoral disease mediators are removed from the body. This can attenuate the course and severity of the underlying disease.
