Cytoplasmic transport and nuclear import of plasmid DNA
Productive transfection and gene transfer require not simply the entry of DNA into cells and subsequent transcription from an appropriate promoter, but also a number of intracellular events that allow the DNA to move from the extracellular surface of the

Continuous Production of Discrete Plasmid DNA-Polycation Nanoparticles Using Flash Nanocomplexation
Despite successful demonstration of linear polyethyleneimine (lPEI) as an effective carrier for a wide range of gene medicine, including DNA plasmids, small interfering RNAs, mRNAs, etc., and continuous improvement of the physical properties and ...

Topological Behavior of Plasmid DNA [PDF]
ABSTRACT The discovery of the B-form structure of DNA by Watson and Crick led to an explosion of research on nucleic acids in the fields of biochemistry, biophysics, and genetics. Powerful techniques were developed to reveal a myriad of different structural conformations that change B-DNA as it is transcribed, replicated, and ...

In this study, we have shown for the first time the effectiveness of a non-viral gene transfection strategy to re-polarize macrophages from M1 to M2 functional sub-type for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). An anti-inflammatory (IL-10) cytokine

Serious overestimation in quantitative PCR by circular (supercoiled) plasmid standard: microalgal pcna as the model gene. [PDF]
Quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) has become a gold standard for the quantification of nucleic acids and microorganism abundances, in which plasmid DNA carrying the target genes are most commonly used as the standard.

Carbon-nanotube for Transient Expression in Rice Calli
Transient gene expression is an important technique in gene functional analysis, protein production and in plants. However, traditional transient expression methods using Agrobacterium are time-consuming with low efficiency.

Computing with DNA by operating on plasmids
A new method of computing using DNA plasmids is introduced and the potential advantages are listed. The new method is illustrated by reporting a laboratory computation of an instance of the NP-complete algorithmic problem of computing the cardinal number of a maximal independent subset of the vertex set of a graph.

DNA integrity is a key issue in gene therapy and genetic vaccine approaches based on plasmid DNA. In contrast to messenger RNA that requires a controlled cold chain for efficacy, DNA molecules are considered to be more stable.

Background Non-viral vectors for gene transfer are less immunogenic than viral vectors but also less efficient. Significant effort has focused on enhancing non-viral gene transfer efficiency by increasing nuclear import of plasmid DNA, particularly by ...

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
