Pyridazines. XIII. Synthesis of 6-aryl-5-oxygenated substituted-3(2H)-pyridazinones and evaluation as platelet aggregation inhibitors.

open access: yesChemical and pharmaceutical bulletin, 1997
Several 6-aryl-5-oxygenated substituted pyridazinones have been synthesized and evaluated in vitro for inhibition of platelet aggregation induced by adenosine 5'-diphosphate (ADP), thrombin and collagen.

Purification of a fragment obtained by autolysis of a PIIIb-SVMP from Bothrops alternatus venom [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Snake Venom Metalloproteinases (SVMPs) represent 43.1% of the components in Bothrops alternatus venom and play an important role in envenomation. Disintegrins and disintegrin-like domains are released by proteolytic processing of PII and PIII classes of ...

Clinical significance of stratifying prostate cancer patients through specific circulating genes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We tested a specific panel of genes representative of luminal, neuroendocrine and stem‐like cells in the blood of prostate cancer patients, showing predictive value from diagnosis to late stages of disease. This approach allows monitoring of treatment responses and outcomes at specific time points in trajectories.

Colloid aggregation induced by oppositely charged polyions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The "polymer reference interaction site model" (PRISM) integral equation formalism is used to determine the pair structure of binary colloidal dispersions involving large and small polyions of opposite charge. Two examples of such bidisperse suspensions are considered in detail, namely mixtures of charged spherical colloids and oppositely charged ...

Potato lectin: a modular protein sharing sequence similarities with the extensin family, the hevein lectin family, and snake venom disintegrins (platelet aggregation inhibitors).

open access: yesThe Plant Journal, 1994
Potato (Solanum tuberosum) lectin, is a chimeric chitin-binding protein comprised of a lectin domain fused to a hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein domain. Here peptide sequence information from both domains is presented.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

Synergistic effect of shear and ADP on platelet growth on ZTA and Ti6Al4V surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Continuous-flow ventricular assist devices (VADs) have been an increasingly common, life-saving therapy for advanced heart-failure patients, but elevate the risk of thrombosis due to a combination of non-physiological hemodynamics and synthetic biomaterials.

Anti-Platelet Aggregation and Anti-Cyclooxygenase Activities for a Range of Coffee Extracts (Coffea arabica) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Coffee is rich in caffeine (CF), chlorogenic acid (CGA) and phenolics. Differing types of coffee beverages and brewing procedures may result in differences in total phenolic contents (TPC) and biological activities. Inflammation and increases of platelet

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Aggregation is impaired in starved platelets due to enhanced autophagy and cellular energy depletion

open access: yesPlatelets, 2019
Platelet hyperactivity is the hallmark of thrombosis and hemostasis disorders including atherosclerosis, diabetes, stroke, arthritis, and cancer causing significant mortality and morbidity.
