Amelioration of murine passive immune thrombocytopenia by IVIg and a therapeutic monoclonal CD44 antibody does not require the Myd88 signaling pathway. [PDF]
Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune bleeding disorder characterized by a low platelet count and the production of anti-platelet antibodies. The majority of ITP patients have antibodies to platelet integrin α(IIb)β₃ (GPIIbIIIa) which can direct

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Progress and development of platelet antibody detection [PDF]
Human platelet antibody (HPA) detection is necessary for the diagnosis and therapeutic decisions for refractoriness to platelet transfusions, post transfusion purpura and fetal and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia. In the last four to five decades many new developments, both in knowledge and methods, have increased the quality of platelet serology.

Inhibitor of DNA binding‐1 is a key regulator of cancer cell vasculogenic mimicry
Elevated expression of transcriptional regulator inhibitor of DNA binding 1 (ID1) promoted cancer cell‐mediated vasculogenic mimicry (VM) through regulation of pro‐angiogenic and pro‐cancerous genes (e.g. VE‐cadherin (CDH5), TIE2, MMP9, DKK1). Higher ID1 expression also increased metastases to the lung and the liver.

A megakaryocyte with no platelets: Anti-platelet antibodies, apoptosis, and platelet production
Primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) and drug-induced thrombocytopenia (DITP) are disorders caused primarily by the presence of anti-platelet auto-antibodies (Abs). Hematologists have traditionally seen thrombocytopenia as the result of increased destruction of Ab-coated platelets by the reticuloendothelial system.

B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

In a high‐risk patient with subacute heparin‐induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) type A (platelet count recovery following acute HIT but with persisting platelet‐activating antibodies), in whom urgent cardiac surgery was required, a key clinical question ...

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular
