Safety and Tolerability of Givinostat: Evidence From Real‐World and Clinical Practice

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The aim of our study was to establish the prevalence of adverse events in a real‐world setting in boys living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) treated with givinostat as part of an Expanded Access Program (EAP) in Italy. Methods The cohort included 90 ambulant boys, with age when treatment started between 6 and 23 years (mean ...

Platelet concentrates for bone regeneration: Current evidence and future challenges

open access: yes, 2017
International audienceActivated platelet concentrates are autologous blood preparations containing supraphysiological concentration of platelets. Platelet concentrates are commonly used for bone regeneration purposes based on the fact that growth factors

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

Platelet Concentrates From Platelet-Rich Plasma And Apheresis Machines: Biochemical Parameters, Functional Assays And Clinical Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The function of platelets is to form a mechanical plug to seal the site of vascular injury during hemostatic. Generally, platelet transfusion can reduce the risk of mortality.

Fibrinogen, platelet and factor XIII supplementation in cardiac surgery: In vitro and in vivo studies

open access: yes, 2017
Background: There is a high risk of bleeding complications in cardiac surgery. Fibrinogen and platelet concentrates are often used to treat perioperative bleeding, but there is little information about its efficacy. The overall aim of this thesis project

Peripheral Neutrophil Activation and Extracellular Trap Formation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Markers of neutrophil activation are increased in plasma during ALS, and markers of NET formation associate with ALS survival. ABSTRACT Objectives Peripheral neutrophil levels in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) inversely correlate with survival, suggesting a role for neutrophils in disease progression.

Evaluation of platelet activation during storage in leukocyte-depleted platelet concentrates

open access: yes, 2017
Structural and functional changes in platelets during storage can lead to the loss of platelet reactivity and response. Our aim was to evaluate leukocyte-depleted platelet concentrates on storage days 0, 3 and 5, obtained by in-line filtration.

Onasemnogene Abeparvovec in Patients With SMA: Interim Results of the RESTORE Registry in Japan

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective There are limited real‐world data regarding the safety and effectiveness of onasemnogene abeparvovec (OA; Zolgensma) infusion, a one‐time gene replacement therapy, for Japanese patients with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). We aimed to improve understanding of the real‐world outcomes for OA in Japan.

Interaction of Intraprocedural Antiplatelets and Intravenous Thrombolysis in Acute Intracranial Stenting: RESISTANT Registry Subanalysis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Objective Acute intracranial stenting during endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for ischemic stroke requires intraprocedural antiplatelet therapy (APT) to maintain patency. However, the hemorrhagic risk of combining APT with intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) remains uncertain.
