A novel and easy FxCycle™ violet based flow cytometric method for simultaneous assessment of DNA ploidy and six‐color immunophenotyping

open access: yesCytometry Part A, 2016
Abnormal DNA ploidy is a valuable prognostic factor in many neoplasms, especially in hematological neoplasms like B‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL) and multiple myeloma (MM).

Molecular Method Based on Hydrolysis Probe Assays to Identify the Sex Chromosomes of Iberian Desman (Galemys pyrenaicus) Using Non‐Invasive Sampling

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
To monitor populations of an endangered species such as Galemys pyrenaicus in the Extremadura area, qPCR techniques have been used to determine sex, using non‐invasive sampling techniques. ABSTRACT Desmans belong to the subfamily Desmaninae, which are members of the family Talpidae.

Polyamine patterns in haploid and diploid tobacco tissues and in vitro cultures

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2010
The aim of this work was to determine PAs levels in pith tissues and callus cultures from haploid and diploid tobacco plants, explanted from the apical and basal regions of the stem.

Karyotype, ploidy, and gene dosage [PDF]

open access: yesWormBook, 2005
The normal karyotype of Caenorhabditis elegans, with its five pairs of autosomes and single pair of X chromosomes, is described. General features of chromosomes and global differences between different chromosomal regions are discussed. Abnormal karyotypes, including duplications, deficiencies, inversions, translocations and chromosome fusions are ...

Interventional oncology in children: Where are we now?

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Abstract Paediatric Interventional Oncology (IO) lags behind adult IO due to a scarcity of specific outcome data. The suboptimal way to evolve this field is relying heavily on adult experiences. The distinct tumour types prevalent in children, such as extracranial germ cell tumours, sarcomas, and neuroblastoma, differ strongly from those found in ...

Modifying platelets at their birth: anti-thrombotic therapy without haemorrhage

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death. The current approach to the prevention of arterial thrombosis in cardiovascular disease is dependent on the use of therapies which inhibit the activation of platelets.

Comparative Analysis of Nucleus Segmentation Techniques for Enhanced DNA Quantification in Propidium Iodide-Stained Samples

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Digitization in pathology and cytology labs is now widespread, a significant shift from a decade ago when few doctors used image processing tools. Despite unchanged scanning times due to excitation in fluorescent imaging, advancements in computing power ...

Fusarium spp. associated with asparagus crowns and the influence of the preplant fumigant metam‐sodium in Michigan crown nurseries

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, EarlyView.
Metam‐sodium is commonly used as a preplant fumigant to reduce the presence of Fusarium spp. in asparagus crown nurseries in Michigan. However, in our study, Fusarium populations did not differ between fumigated and non‐fumigated nurseries, indicating that alternative strategies for controlling Fusarium spp. need exploration.
