PNA Technology

Molecular Biotechnology, 2003
Peptide nucleic acids (PNA) are deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) mimics with a pseudopeptide backbone. PNA is an extremely good structural mimic of DNA (or of ribonucleic acid [RNA]), and PNA oligomers are able to form very stable duplex structures with Watson-Crick complementary DNA and RNA (or PNA) oligomers, and they can also bind to targets in duplex ...

Induced Chirality in PNA-PNA Duplexes

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1995
Complementary peptide nucleic acids (PNA) form Watson-Crick base-paired helical duplexes. The preferred helicity of such a duplex is determined by a chiral amino acid attached to the C-terminus. We here show that the induced helicity, as measured by circular dichroism (CD), is drastically dependent on the nucleobase sequence proximal to the chiral ...

Pyrrolidine PNA:  A Novel Conformationally Restricted PNA Analogue

Organic Letters, 2000
[reaction:see text] A new conformationally restricted PNA adenine monomer has been synthesized in 13 steps from cis-4-hydroxy-D-proline. A fully modified adenine decamer displayed improved binding affinity toward complementary DNA and RNA oligonucleotides as compared to that of the parent PNA adenine decamer.
