Counting glomeruli in human kidney specimens using ex vivo MRI without contrast agents
Abstract Purpose The total number of glomeruli is an important indicator of kidney function and susceptibility to disease. Glomeruli, however, are difficult to image using MRI without contrast enhancement. For this reason, previous studies have used cationic ferritin as a contrast agent to detect glomeruli in ex vivo and in vivo perfused kidneys.

Nicotine Induces Podocyte Apoptosis through Increasing Oxidative Stress.
BackgroundCigarette smoking plays an important role in the progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Nicotine, one of the major components of cigarette smoking, has been demonstrated to increase proliferation of renal mesangial cells.

Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor in Health and Disease
Based on the structure and ligands of AhR, this review introduces the AhR‐related signaling pathways and their roles in health and diseases. Agonists and antagonists of AhR as well as new strategies for treatment using the microbial–AhR axis are summarized. A prospect was made for the future use of AhR as a therapeutic target.

Vasculature‐Associated Lymphoid Tissue (VALT) is a significant tertiary lymphoid tissue that contributes to kidney inflammation and has not yet been identified in ruminants. Our study revealed that VALT in goats consists of typical immune cells, including macrophages, T cells, B cells and high endothelial venules.

Effects of BSF on Podocyte Apoptosis via Regulating the ROS-Mediated PI3K/AKT Pathway in DN
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the leading cause of end-stage renal disease (ESRD). The ROS-mediated PI3K/AKT pathway plays a key role in podocyte apoptosis and DN progression. Our previous study demonstrated that Baoshenfang (BSF) can decrease proteinuria

Background and purpose Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a common complication of diabetes. Current treatments include renin‐angiotensin‐aldosterone system (RAAS) blockers and sodium‐glucose co‐transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors. The cannabinoid CB1 receptor is a potential therapeutic target.
