Changing the eigenfrequency spectrum using passive vibration absorbers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Using a substructure coupling technique the problem of assigning anti resonances is reformulated as a pole placement problem which can be analyzed in a more general framework.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Improving Photoacoustic-guided Focusing in Scattering Media by Spectrally Filtered Detection

open access: yes, 2013
We experimentally and numerically study the potential of photoacoustic-guiding for light focusing through scattering samples via wavefront-shaping and iterative optimization.

Modeling the UBVRI time delays in Mrk 335 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We develop a model of time delays between the continuum bands in the Narrow Line Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 335 to explain the observed delays measured in this source.

Nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase promotes drug resistance in lung cancer, as revealed by nascent proteomic profiling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
AZD9291 has shown promise in targeted cancer therapy but is limited by resistance. In this study, we employed metabolic labeling and LC–MS/MS to profile time‐resolved nascent protein perturbations, allowing dynamic tracking of drug‐responsive proteins. We demonstrated that increased NNMT expression is associated with drug resistance, highlighting NNMT ...

A Design Outline for Floating Point Absorber Wave Energy Converters

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
An overview of the most important development stages of floating point absorber wave energy converters is presented. At a given location, the wave energy resource has to be first assessed for varying seasons. The mechanisms used to convert wave energy to

Nonlinear Dynamic and Kinematic Model of a Spar-Buoy: Parametric Resonance and Yaw Numerical Instability

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
Mathematical models are essential for the design and control of offshore systems, to simulate the fluid–structure interactions and predict the motions and the structural loads.

A Comparative Study of Model Predictive Control and Optimal Causal Control for Heaving Point Absorbers

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Efforts by various researchers in recent years to design simple causal control laws that can be applied to WEC devices suggest that these controllers can yield similar levels of energy output as those of more complex non-causal controllers. However, most

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Suzaku and XMM-Newton Observations of the North Polar Spur: Charge Exchange or ISM Absorption? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
By revisiting the Suzaku and XMM-Newton data of the North Polar Spur, we discovered that the spectra are inconsistent with the traditional model consisting of pure thermal emission and neutral absorption. The most prominent discrepancies are the enhanced
