Licensing german negative polarity items in LTAG

open access: yes, 2008
Our paper aims at capturing the distribution of negative polarity items (NPIs) within lexicalized Tree Adjoining Grammar (LTAG). The condition under which an NPI can occur in a sentence is for it to be in the scope of a negation with no quantifiers ...

Cell polarity inside-out

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceCell Polarity is defined as the structural, morphological, and functional asymmetry along an axis. This fundamental process can be separated into initiation or establishment, commonly referred to as symmetry breaking, and ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Seed Morphological Analysis in Species of Vitis and Relatives

open access: yesHorticulturae
Seed shape descriptions of species of Vitis have traditionally been based on adjectives comparing overall shape with geometric figures, such as oval, elongated oval, and pear-shaped, corresponding to higher values of the Stummer index (lower aspect ratio)

Identification of Lightning Strike on 500-kV Transmission Line Based on the Time-Domain Parameters of a Traveling Wave

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
This paper presents a novel and analytical approach to identifying a lightning strike after it has struck an overhead transmission line. The identification method is mainly based on the traveling waves' time-domain parameters, such as polarity, amplitude,

Polarity-Tuning Derivatization-LC-MS Approach for Probing Global Carboxyl-Containing Metabolites in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yes, 2018
Carboxyl-containing metabolites (CCMs) widely exist in living systems and are the essential components for life. Global characteristics of CCMs in biological samples are critical for the understanding of physiological processes and the discovery for the ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

The polar code for patterning: how polarity and the cytoskeleton orchestrate asymmetric cell division during plant development

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Cell polarity is fundamental to morphogenesis across living organisms. In plants, a dynamic interplay between polarity cues and the cytoskeleton orchestrates essential asymmetric cell divisions across diverse species.

Dynamics of actin cables in polarized growth of the filamentous fungus Aspergillus nidulans

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2016
Highly polarized growth of filamentous fungi requires a continuous supply of proteins and lipids to the hyphal tip. This transport is managed by vesicle trafficking via the actin and microtubule cytoskeletons and their associated motor proteins ...

DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.
