Robust pole assignment in uncertainsystems

IEE Proceedings - Control Theory and Applications, 1997
The concept of 'pole colouring' is introduced as a graphical aid to the problem of observing the closed-loop system pole variations as a function of uncertainty. Some possible cost functions that can be used to measure the performance robustness of the resulting systems are also considered.

Pole-assignment adaptive stabiliser

Proceedings of 2003 IEEE Conference on Control Applications, 2003. CCA 2003., 2004
A fixed gain power system stabiliser is inadequate to provide acceptable damping characteristics as the operating point changes. For the first time in power system an adaptive Pole Assignment stabiliser is developed to overcome this problem by fixing the poles of the transfer function G/sub d/(s)=/spl Delta//spl delta///spl Delta/P/sub m/.

A Schur Approach to Pole Assignment Problem

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1981
Abstract A new approach to the pole assignment in linear systems is proposed which is based on unitary or orthogonal transformation of the closed loop system matrix to its Schur canonical form. The method has a number of advantages over the other known methods. In particular it does not require the computation of the charac-teristic polynomial of the

A note on pole assignment

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1968
This correspondence presents an alternative proof of the fact that if a linear time-invariant multivariable dynamical equation is controllable, then by introducing state-variable feedback the eigenvalue of the new A matrix can be arbitrarily chosen. The feature of the proof is the nonsingular transformation of the input vector.

Perturbation Analysis of the Pole Assignment Problem

SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications, 1996
An analysis which reveals the sensitivity of the state feedback matrix to perturbations in the system matrices and the set of desired poles in the pole assignment problem for linear systems is presented. The analysis is based on the implicit function theorem and its generalization and covers the case of distinct closed-loop poles only.

On pole structure assignment in linear systems

International Journal of Control, 2009
The problem of pole structure assignment (PSA) by state feedback in implicit, linear and uncontrollable systems is discussed in the article. It is shown that the problem is solvable if the system is regularisable. Then necessary and sufficient conditions for characteristic polynomial assignment are established. In the case of PSA (invariant polynomials

Approximate pole assignment

International Journal of Control, 1993
A novel approach and some new algorithms for the pole-assignment problem of a controllable time-invariant linear multivariable system with linear state or output feedback are presented. The main theme of the approach and the algorithms is to satisfy some constraints in the problem approximately.

Regional pole assignment with eigenstructure robustness

International Journal of Systems Science, 1997
The paper provides a computational procedure for a type of robust regional pole assignment problem. It allows closed-loop poles to be settled at certain perturbation insensitive locations within some prespecified regions in the complex plane. The novelty of our approach lies in the versatility of the proposed algorithm which provides a rick set of ...

Adaptive Pole Assignment

1996
This chapter deals with the problem of adaptive pole assignment for single-input/single-output linear time-invariant systems when only the order is assumed to be known.

A robust periodic pole assignment algorithm

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1995
A robust periodic pole assignment algorithm for linear, time-invariant, discrete-time systems is proposed. The algorithm produces a state- feedback law able to assign a prescribed set of eigenvalues and to minimize the condition numbers of the eigenvector matrices of the closed- loop system.
