A Conformal Mapping Based Fractional Order Approach for Sub-optimal Tuning of PID Controllers with Guaranteed Dominant Pole Placement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A novel conformal mapping based Fractional Order (FO) methodology is developed in this paper for tuning existing classical (Integer Order) Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers especially for sluggish and oscillatory second order systems ...

LCL-resonance damping strategies for grid-connected inverters with LCL filters: a comprehensive review

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2017
Grid-connected LCL-filtered inverters are commonly used for distributed power generators. The LCL resonance should be treated properly. Recently, many strategies have been used to damp the resonance, but the relationships between different damping ...

Adaptive fuzzy pole placement for stabilization of non-linear systems [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, 2016
A new approach for pole placement of nonlinear systems using state feedback and fuzzy system is proposed. We use a new online fuzzy training method to identify and to obtain a fuzzy model for the unknown nonlinear system using only the system input and ...

Pole Assignment for Active Vibration Control of Linear Vibrating Systems through Linear Matrix Inequalities

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
This paper proposes a novel method for pole placement in linear vibrating systems through state feedback and rank-one control. Rather than assigning all the poles to the desired locations of the complex plane, the proposed method exactly assigns just the

Unconventional Gravitational Excitation of a Schwarzschild Black Hole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Besides the well-known quasinormal modes, the gravitational spectrum of a Schwarzschild black hole also has a continuum part on the negative imaginary frequency axis. The latter is studied numerically for quadrupole waves.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Pole placement design for quantum systems via coherent observers

open access: yes, 2015
We previously extended Luenberger's approach for observer design to the quantum case, and developed a class of coherent observers which tracks linear quantum stochastic systems in the sense of mean values.

Approximate pole-placement controller using inverse plant dynamics for floor vibration control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
PublishedThis is the final version of the article. Available from SPIE via the DOI in this record.Past research and field trials have demonstrated the viability of active vibration control (AVC) technologies for the mitigation of human induced vibrations

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Dominant‐pole placement for predictor synthesis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control
AbstractThis article analyzes the high‐gain prediction approach for nonlinear input‐delay systems. The problem is discussed in the light of weighted homogeneity and input‐to‐state stability. The canonical form for uniformly observable nonlinear systems allows tuning the linear‐part spectrum by multiplicity‐induced dominancy and ensuring closed‐loop ...
