Polo-like Kinase 1 (PLK1) Inhibitors Targeting Anticancer Activity
Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) is a serine/threonine kinase that orchestrates multiple critical events during mitosis, including centrosome maturation, spindle assembly, kinetochore–microtubule attachment, and cytokinesis.

Linear Regression QSAR Models for Polo-Like Kinase-1 Inhibitors
A structurally diverse dataset of 530 polo-like kinase-1 (PLK1) inhibitors is compiled from the ChEMBL database and studied by means of a conformation-independent quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) approach.

Wee1 kinase differentially regulates maize CDKA2;1a and CDKB1;1
In eukaryotes, Wee1 kinase inhibits the kinase activity of CDK/Cyc complexes through phosphorylation of a conserved residue in the CDK moiety. Wee1 is also present in plants, but has been scarcely studied. We have studied maize Wee1 regulation of CDKA/CycD2;2a or CDKB/CycD2;2a complexes.

Molecular requirements for PLK1 activation by T-loop phosphorylation
Activation of PLK1, a master mitotic kinase, requires phosphorylation of its activation segment on Thr210, within a basic consensus sequence for Aurora kinases. Aurora B-dependent phosphorylation of Thr210 has been reported, but other evidence identified

Roles of Polo-like kinase 3 in suppressing tumor angiogenesis
Angiogenesis is essential for promoting growth and metastasis of solid tumors by ensuring blood supply to the tumor mass. Targeting angiogenesis is therefore an attractive approach to therapeutic intervention of cancer.

Proper chromosome alignment depends on BRCA2 phosphorylation by PLK1
The BRCA2 tumour suppressor protein is known to play an important role in homologous recombination. Here the authors reveal how the phosphorylation of BRCA2 by Polo-like kinase 1 (PLK1) contributes to the regulation of mitosis.

A guide to transcriptional cyclin‐dependent kinases in cancer
Transcriptional cyclin‐dependent‐kinases (tCDKs) facilitate gene expression by promoting RNA polymerase II (RNAPII) progression through discrete phases of the transcription cycle. Aberrant tCDK activity is detectable in different human cancers, thereby contributing to de‐regulated gene expression programs that drive oncogenic phenotypes.

Human plasmacytoid dendritic cell‐based vaccines efficiently migrate from blood to lymph nodes and prime naive T cells in humanised mice. Irradiation‐induced CD62L shedding, mediated by p38 MAP kinase and ADAM17, is involved in the regulation of PDC migration to secondary lymphoid organs in this model.

Use of the Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4) inhibitor centrinone to investigate intracellular signalling networks using SILAC-based phosphoproteomics [PDF]
Polo-like kinase 4 (PLK4) is the master regulator of centriole duplication in metazoan organisms. Catalytic activity and protein turnover of PLK4 are tightly coupled in human cells, since changes in PLK4 concentration and catalysis have profound effects ...
