Mechanisms governing poly(A)-tail-length specificity of the human PAN2-PAN3 deadenylase complex

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: The lifespan of most eukaryotic mRNAs is modulated by the gradual shortening of the poly(A) tail and removal of the associated poly(A)-binding protein.

CNOT3-Dependent mRNA Deadenylation Safeguards the Pluripotent State

open access: yesStem Cell Reports, 2016
Poly(A) tail length and mRNA deadenylation play important roles in gene regulation. However, how they regulate embryonic development and pluripotent cell fate is not fully understood.

Polymer Network Modified Perovskite for High‐Performance Pure Blue Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymer network of poly(4‐vinylphenol) (PVPh) is introduced to improve pure blue perovskite light‐emitting diodes. PVPh effectively passivates defects, enhances film morphology, reduces lattice strain, and suppresses ion migration. These effects lead to record device performance, achieving 9.82% external quantum efficiency and stable blue emission at

Nab2, a Three-Cornered Hat to Bind a Poly(A) Tail [PDF]

open access: yesStructure, 2012
In this issue of Structure, Brockman and co-workers reveal the structure and interactions of Nab2 with polyadenosine RNA, which marks the completion of 3' end processing and initiates the assembly of mRNA and carrier proteins for export through the nuclear pore complex.

A Mechanistic Blueprint for Fast, High‐Yield Green Scintillators Using Conjugated Polymer–Nanocrystal Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conjugated polymer–nanocrystal composites are investigated to develop fast, high‐yield green scintillators. The polymer F8BT enables efficient, ultrafast emission, while blends with non‐emitting HfO2 nanocrystals and luminescent CdZnS/ZnS quantum dots reveal distinct sensitization mechanisms.

Lsm14b controls zebrafish oocyte growth by regulating polyadenylation of the mRNA poly(A) tail

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
Lsm14b (LSM family member 14b) is a messenger ribonucleoprotein (mRNP) and a widely present component in eukaryotes. Lsm14b participates in oocyte development by regulating mRNA translation, however, the specific translational regulatory mechanisms ...

Poly(A) inclusive RNA isoform sequencing (PAIso−seq) reveals wide-spread non-adenosine residues within RNA poly(A) tails

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
The poly(A) tails on mRNA are vital for their function but it is difficult to map full-length sequences of mRNA isoforms with the entire poly(A) tails.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.
