Biophysical characterization of the strong stabilization of the RNA triplex poly(U)•poly(A)*poly(U) by 9-O-(ω-amino) alkyl ether berberine analogs. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Binding of two 9-O-(ω-amino) alkyl ether berberine analogs BC1 and BC2 to the RNA triplex poly(U)(•)poly(A)(*)poly(U) was studied by various biophysical techniques.Berberine analogs bind to the RNA triplex non-cooperatively.

RNA polyadenylation sites on the genomes of microorganisms, animals, and plants. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Pre-messenger RNA (mRNA) 3'-end cleavage and subsequent polyadenylation strongly regulate gene expression. In comparison with the upstream or downstream motifs, relatively little is known about the feature differences of polyadenylation [poly(A)] sites ...

Uridine composition of the poly-U/UC tract of HCV RNA defines non-self recognition by RIG-I. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2012
Viral infection of mammalian cells triggers the innate immune response through non-self recognition of pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) in viral nucleic acid.

Thermal Properties of Mixture of Poly A and Poly U [PDF]

open access: yesPolymer Journal, 1976
The thermal properties of Poly(A+U) formed by an equimolar mixture of Poly A and Poly U in aqueous solutions of various concentrations of NaCl were studied calorimetrically. First, the measurements using the modified DSC were carried out and the transition enthalpy (ΔHm) was estimated for Poly(A+U) in the solutions of various salt concentrations.

Regulation of coronaviral poly(A) tail length during infection. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The positive-strand coronavirus genome of ~30 kilobase in length and subgenomic (sg) mRNAs of shorter lengths, are 5' and 3'-co-terminal by virtue of a common 5'-capped leader and a common 3'-polyadenylated untranslated region.

The effect of simultaneous exposure on the attention selection and integration of segments and lexical tones by Urdu-Cantonese bilingual speakers

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
In the perceptual learning of lexical tones, an automatic and robust attention-to-phonology system enables native tonal listeners to adapt to acoustically non-optimal speech, such as phonetic conflicts in daily communications.

Architecture of covalent bonds between filament layers to enhance performance of 3D printing biodegradable polymer blends

open access: yesPolymer Testing, 2022
Generally, the filament layer adhesion in articles 3D printed by Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM, one of 3D printing method) is completely provided by the diffusion and entanglement of molecular chains between adjacent layers.

Interaction of magnesium ions with poly A and poly U [PDF]

open access: yesBiopolymers, 1971
AbstractThe binding of Mg++ to poly A and poly U has been measured quantitatively by using the metallochromic indicator calmagite. The method is described in detail. It is shown that there is electrostatic interaction between the binding sites, viz., the phosphate groups, and the intrinsic association constant, for the specific binding can be ...

Background-Quenched Aggregation-Induced Emission through Electrostatic Interactions for the Detection of Poly(ADP-ribose) Polymerase-1 Activity

open access: yesMolecules, 2023
Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1 (PARP1) is a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for cancers that can catalyze the poly-ADP-ribosylation of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) onto the acceptor proteins to form long poly(ADP-ribose) (PAR ...
