Adaptive Genomic Divergence Across Altitudes in Capsella bursa‐pastoris

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Genomic divergence was observed between high‐altitude and low‐altitude populations of Capsella bursa‐pastoris in China, consistent with an important role of ecological factors. Candidate adaptive loci associated with enhanced energy metabolism, photoprotection, and growth plasticity under altitudinal stress were identified.

Preparative in vitro biosynthesis of complex polyketides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
My Dean’s Scholars thesis project concerns the development of an enzymatic system for the in vitro production of polyketides, which we hope will lead to the discovery of new molecules and new medicines.

Seed lipid profiles of perennial ryegrass: Global patterns and differentiation of ryegrass cultivars and Epichloë endophytes

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Seed lipid profiles from three ryegrass cultivars infected with AR501 show distinct changes in the medium‐chain diacylglycerols, triacylglycerols and sphingolipids. The differential peal LN745.5052_5.78 can be identified as PG 16:0_18:2 with the supporting ms2 fragmentation spectrum. Abstract Background Forage perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) has

Biosynthesis of fungal polyketides

open access: yes, 2018
Fungal polyketides comprise of a large group of structurally diverse compounds with a wide range of biological activities. These compounds are biosynthesised by Type I iterative polyketide synthases (PKS) which can be further defined as non-reducing (nr),

The Stereochemistry of Complex Polyketide Biosynthesis by Modular Polyketide Synthases

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Polyketides are a diverse class of medically important natural products whose biosynthesis is catalysed by polyketide synthases (PKSs), in a fashion highly analogous to fatty acid biosynthesis. In modular PKSs, the polyketide chain is assembled by the successive condensation of activated carboxylic acid-derived units, where chain extension occurs with ...

Actinomycete-Derived Polyketides as a Source of Antibiotics and Lead Structures for the Development of New Antimicrobial Drugs

open access: yesAntibiotics, 2019
Actinomycetes are remarkable producers of compounds essential for human and veterinary medicine as well as for agriculture. The genomes of those microorganisms possess several sets of genes (biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC)) encoding pathways for the ...
