The conformational phase diagram of neutral polymers in the presence of attractive crowders [PDF]
Extensive coarse grained molecular dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the conformational phase diagram of a neutral polymer in the presence of attractive crowders. We show that, for low crowded densities, the polymer predominantly shows three phases as a function of both intra polymer and polymer-crowder interactions: (1) weak intra ...

Gas-Foamed Scaffold Gradients for Combinatorial Screening in 3D
Current methods for screening cell-material interactions typically utilize a two-dimensional (2D) culture format where cells are cultured on flat surfaces. However, there is a need for combinatorial and high-throughput screening methods to systematically

Potentials and challenges of polymer informatics: exploiting machine learning for polymer design [PDF]
There has been rapidly growing demand of polymeric materials coming from different aspects of modern life because of the highly diverse physical and chemical properties of polymers. Polymer informatics is an interdisciplinary research field of polymer science, computer science, information science and machine learning that serves as a platform to ...

Proteins, chain molecules of amino acids, behave in ways which are similar to each other yet quite distinct from standard compact polymers. We demonstrate that the Flory theorem, derived for polymer melts, holds for compact protein native state structures and is not incompatible with the existence of structured building blocks such as α helices and β ...

Functional variation among LPMOs revealed by the inhibitory effects of cyanide and buffer ions
This study addresses the inhibition of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) by cyanide and explains how and why the magnitude of observed inhibitory effects depends on the way LPMO reactions are setup and on the type of LPMO. Enzymes known as lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs) are mono‐copper polysaccharide‐degrading peroxygenases that ...

A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Polymer Release out of a Spherical Vesicle through a Pore
Translocation of a polymer out of curved surface or membrane is studied via mean first passage time approach. Membrane curvature gives rise to a constraint on polymer conformation, which effectively drives the polymer to the outside of membrane where the

The NlpC_P60 superfamily of peptidases is recognised by its key role in bacterial cell wall homeostasis. Recently, studies have also described the involvement of NlpC_P60‐like enzymes in bacterial competitive mechanisms and pathogenesis across several lineages.

Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell Model
We present here an isothermal, one-dimensional, steady-state model for a complete polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) with a 117 Nation | membrane. In this model we employ water diffusion coefficients electro-osmotic drag coefficients, water sorption ...
