Acetate‐Linked Energy Metabolism as a Determinant of Early Haemophilus influenzae Infection Fitness

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
The Pta–AckA pathway is critical for Haemophilus influenzae energy generation, metabolic homeostasis, stress resistance, and intracellular colonization, highlighting its potential as a target for management of H. influenzae infections.

Antibiotic Resistance and Biofilm Gene Distribution in Colistin‐Resistant Acinetobacter baumannii

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Multicenter analysis of 144 clinical Acinetobacter baumannii isolates in Iran revealed high MDR/XDR rates and widespread biofilm formation (90.9%). Colistin resistance was linked to pmrAB overexpression, while blaPER‐1 was independently associated with strong biofilm production, highlighting chromosomal resistance mechanisms and biofilm as key drivers ...

Antimicrobial Photodynamic Therapy With New Methylene Blue and Its Combined Effect With Antibiotics Against MDR Acinetobacter baumannii

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
NMB‐mediated aPDT significantly inhibited MDR A. baumannii and enhanced the efficacy of tigecycline and colistin through synergistic or additive interactions. Increased ROS generation during aPDT and combination therapy may contribute to the observed antibacterial effects.

Cell membrane‐coated nanoparticles for dermatological diseases

open access: yesVIEW, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
Skin disorders are challenging to treat due to complex barrier functions and limited conventional therapies. Biomimetic cell membrane‐coated nanoparticles (CM‐NPs) offer a superior nanomedicine approach by evading immune detection and enabling precise targeting.

Guidelines for Essential Trauma Care: Second Edition (2026)

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 50, Issue 6, Page 1409-1450, June 2026.
Injury is a major cause of death and disability globally, with the highest burden in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Strengthening the organization and planning for trauma care (care of the injured) can improve care and lower mortality. In 2004, the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC) and the World Health ...

Predicting Microbial Growth Dynamics in Commercial Cocoa‐Flavored Plant‐Based Milk Alternatives

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the growth of Bacillus cereus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella Typhimurium in commercially available cocoa‐flavored plant‐based milk alternatives (PBMAs) under different temperatures and examined the influence of product composition on bacterial development.

Isolation of a Novel Lytic Pseudomonas aeruginosa Phage Henu5 and Fitness Costs of Phage‐Driven Resistance

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study isolated and identified a novel lytic phage that infects Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Henu5 exhibited good physicochemical stability. Additionally, the phage‐resistant mutants showed fitness trade‐offs in growth, virulence and antibiotic susceptibility, along with in vivo fitness, which might direct future phage selection in clinical settings ...
