Binding of $TMPyP^{3+}$ porphyrin to poly(A)-poly(U) polynucleotide: a spectroscopic study [PDF]
The porphyrins are macrocyclic compounds widely used as photosensitizers in anticancer photodynamic therapy. The binding of a tricationic meso-tris(N-methylpyridinium)-porphyrin, $TMPyP^{3+}$, to poly(A)-poly(U) polynucleotide has been studied in neutral buffered solution, pH6.9, of low and near-physiological ionic strength in a wide range of molar ...

Linkage of polynucleotides through phosphodiester bonds by an enzyme from Escherichia coli.
There is now convincing evidence that recombinants are formed in genetic crosses by the breakage and joining of DNA molecules.' It is also likely that a similar breakage and rejoining occurs during "dark" repair of UV-irradiated DNA.2 Nucleases have been

Binding of Pheophorbide-a methyl ester to nucleic acids of different secondary structures: A spectroscopic study [PDF]
Binding of neutral Pheophorbide-a methyl ester (MePheo-a) to various synthetic polynucleotides, double-stranded poly(A)-poly(U), poly(G)-poly(C) and four-stranded poly(G), as well as to calf thymus DNA, was studied using the methods of absorption and polarized fluorescent spectroscopy.

Interaction of polynucleotides with natural and model membranes.
Polynucleotides adsorb on natural and model phospholipid membranes in the presence of Mg2+-cations. Adsorption of nucleic acids on membranes results in a considerable change of their secondary structure.

Lipids contribute to epigenetic control via chromatin structure and functions
Isolated cases of experimental evidence over the last few decades have shown that, where specifically tested, both prokaryotes and eukaryotes have specific lipid species bound to nucleoproteins of the genome. In vitro, some of these lipid species exhibit

A possible conformation for double-stranded polynucleotides.
A model is presented for double-stranded polynucleotides which involves side-by-side meshing of the two strands rather than double helical intertwining. The sugar-phosphate backbone has a twisted strip-like character, yet base-pairing of the Watson-Crick

The Generalized Model of Polypeptide Chain Describing the Helix-Coil Transition in Biopolymers [PDF]
In this paper we summarize some results of our theoretical investigations of helix-coil transition both in single-strand (polypeptides) and two-strand (polynucleotides) macromolecules. The Hamiltonian does not contain any parameter designed especially for helix-coil transition and uses pure molecular microscopic parameters.
