Induction of polyploid Malus prunifolia and analysis of its salt tolerance

Abstract The apple rootstock Malus prunifolia (Willd.) Borkh. is widely used for apple production. Because polyploid plants are often more tolerant to abiotic stress than diploids, we wondered whether polyploidy induction in M. prunifolia might improve its stress tolerance, particularly to high salinity.

Inhibin βB Mediates Oligotrophic Adaptation via Regulating Muscle Satellite Cell Proliferation and Differentiation in Schizopygopsis younghusbandi

① Nutrient deficiency upregulates inhibin βB, activating SMAD signaling to promote p21. Increased p21 inhibits mcm2/mcm4/mcm5 and cyclin E2, inducing G1‐phase arrest, slowing growth, and reducing energy consumption. ② Inhibin βB also upregulates pdgf‐c, which induces α‐SMA, leading to muscle satellite cell fibrosis.

The effect of colchicine on the protocorm-like bodies of Cattleya intermedia L. (Orchidaceae) cultured in vitro was studied. Different concentrations of the drug (0.00, 0.05, 0.10 and 0.20%) as well as two times of culture (4 or 8 days) were tested to determine the best treatment for the induction of tetraploid plants.

PTEN homozygous deletion is a negative prognostic factor in tumor treating fields‐treated glioblastoma, IDH wildtype patients

In a molecularly confirmed cohort of 64 newly diagnosed, TTFields‐treated glioblastomas, IDH‐wildtype, homozygous PTEN deletion was associated with markedly shorter overall survival (368 vs. 603 days) and remained an independent adverse prognostic factor.
