A Computational Study of Defects, Li-Ion Migration and Dopants in Li2ZnSiO4 Polymorphs

open access: yesCrystals, 2019
Lithium zinc silicate, Li2ZnSiO4, is a promising ceramic solid electrolyte material for Li-ion batteries. In this study, atomistic simulation techniques were employed to examine intrinsic defect processes; long range Li-ion migration paths, together with

Choroid Plexus Enlargement and USPIO‐Based Inflammatory Feature in Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The choroid plexus (CP) is a key component of the blood–cerebrospinal fluid barrier (BCSFB), but its mechanism of action in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. This study investigated CP volume (CPV) alterations and their association with conventional imaging markers in CSVD and explored the underlying role of ...

Propagation impairments due to Raman effect on the coexistence of GPON, XG-PON, RF-video and TWDM-PON [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We analyze propagation effects in the coexistence of GPON, XG-PON, RF-Video and TWDM-PON. We show that high power TWDM-PON channels excite Stimulated Raman Scattering inducing extra-loss on GPON due to power depletion.

Circulating Lactonase Activity but Not Protein Level of PON-1 Predicts Adverse Outcomes in Subjects with Chronic Kidney Disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Medicine, 2019
The burden of cardiovascular disease and death in chronic kidney disease (CKD) outpaces that of the other diseases and is not adequately described by traditional risk factors alone.

Mucocutaneous disease activity and damage accrual in systemic lupus erythematosus: analyses from the Asia‐Pacific Lupus Collaboration longitudinal cohort study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This research article aims to describe the prevalence, associations and health‐related quality‐of‐life (HRQoL) impact of mucocutaneous features of SLE. Methods Data from the Asia‐Pacific Lupus Collaboration cohort were analysed (2013‐2021). Mucocutaneous activity (MC‐A) items were rash, alopecia and mucosal ulcers; defined by the SLEDAI‐2K ...

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Basal condensation of Numb and Pon complex via phase transition during Drosophila neuroblast asymmetric division

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Uneven distribution and local concentration of protein complexes on distinct membrane cortices is a fundamental property in numerous biological processes, including Drosophila neuroblast (NB) asymmetric cell divisions and cell polarity in general. In NBs,
