Tolerance of Poplar (Populus sp.) to Environmental Stresses II. Photosynthetic Characteristics of Poplar Clones Grown at Low and High Light Intensities [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Plant Physiology, 1988
Summary Four poplar clones ( Populus sp., Beaupre, Raspalje, Fritzi Pauley and Robusta) were grown at low and high photon flux densities (PFD) and the photosynthetic characteristics of the leaves were examined and compared using photoacoustic and fluorometric techniques. The growth of all the clones (shoot length and leaf area) was markedly reduced

Molecular and Genetic Approaches to Rust Resistance (Melampsora sp.) in Poplar (Populus sp.)

1996
Various Melampsora rust races are causing defoliations on susceptible cultivars in commercial poplar plantations. Genetic and molecular analyses of parents and families of a factorial mating design have been investigated to determine components of resistance to rust. One genomic area was revealed which was involved in qualitative resistance.
