Composted biosolids as a source of iron for hybrid poplars (Populus sp.) grown in northwest New Mexico

Agroforestry Systems, 2010
Composted sewage sludge (biosolids) supply plant available Fe and may represent a sustain- able alternative to more costly chelated Fe fertilizers currently used to supplement nutrition in hybrid poplar test plots of elevated soil pH. To test the response of poplars, field plots were amended with composted biosolids at two agricultural rates: 22.75 and

A Major Gene for Resistance to Melampsora medusae f. sp. deltoidae in a Hybrid Poplar Pedigree

Phytopathology, 1996
A three-generation Populus trichocarpa x P. deltoides (TxD) hybrid poplar pedigree, comprising backcross and F 2 progenies, was used to investigate the genetic control of resistance to an isolate of Melampsara medusae f.sp. deltoidae. Necrotic flecking and rust severity were evaluated in two successive years in different field locations, in three ...

Dark septate endophyte Anteaglonium sp. T010 promotes biomass accumulation in poplar by regulating sucrose metabolism and hormones

Tree Physiology
Abstract Plant biomass is a highly promising renewable feedstock for the production of biofuels, chemicals and materials. Enhancing the content of plant biomass through endophyte symbiosis can effectively reduce economic and technological barriers in industrial production.

Evaluating the Efficacy of Biopulping on Poplar Wood Chips Using the White-rot Fungus Trametes SP.

Ecology, Environment and Conservation
This study evaluated the novel application of the white-rot fungus Trametes sp. for biopulping of poplar wood chips as an environmentally-friendly alternative to chemical treatments. The isolated fungal strain Trametes sp. exhibited selective lignin degradation capabilities with high laccase production along with moderate xylanase and cellulase ...
