Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Assessing the efficacy and cost‐effectiveness of integrating autonomous recording units and point‐count surveys for population monitoring of northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus)

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence
Autonomous recording units (ARUs) have emerged as a useful tool for monitoring a wide range of acoustically signalling wildlife species in a cost‐effective manner, but estimating abundance from acoustic data can be challenging.

Insights from 20 years of mammal population research in Indonesia

open access: yesOryx
Mammal populations are declining in biodiverse tropical regions. Global analyses have identified Indonesia as a hotspot of vertebrate decline, although relatively few data are available to substantiate these claims.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

Population monitoring of a Critically Endangered antelope, the mountain bongo, using camera traps and a novel identification scheme

open access: yesOryx
Conservation monitoring is paramount for the gathering of information on species and populations in need of conservation actions. However, monitoring of the mountain bongo Tragelaphus eurycerus isaaci, a Critically Endangered antelope endemic to Kenya ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Current Status of Pulsatilla patens in Latvia—Population Size, Demographic and Seed Viability Indicators, Soil Parameters and Their Relationships

open access: yesPlants
Pulsatilla patens (L.) Mill. (Eastern pasque flower) is classified as a highly endangered and declining species in Europe. The present research assessed the current status of P. patens in Latvia by collecting data on its distribution in historical places,
