Porcine circoviruses in wild boars in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Med Sci, 2023
We investigated the prevalence of porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) and 3 (PCV3) in wild boars captured or found dead in Nagano Prefecture in 2020. Based on PCR testing, 21 of 254 (8.3%) wild boars were PCV2-positive and 43 of 256 (16.8%) wild boars were PCV3-positive, 5 of 253 (2.0%) wild boars were both PCV2-positive and PCV3-positive.

Phylodynamic analysis of current Porcine circovirus 4 sequences: Does the porcine circoviruses evolutionary history repeat itself? [PDF]

open access: yesTransbound Emerg Dis, 2022
Four porcine circoviruses (PCVs) have been discovered over time and seem to share a common history, particularly for PCV-2 and -3. Despite being reported as apparently new viruses, rapidly emerging as a threat for the worldwide swine industry, they were ...

Establishment and preliminary application of duplex fluorescence quantitative PCR for porcine circoviruses type 2 and type 3

open access: yesHeliyon
Porcine circovirus types 2 (PCV2) and 3 (PCV3) are the two most prevalent porcine circoviruses in China, all of which can infect swine herds and cause serious diseases. To detect coinfection with PCV2 and PCV3, primers and probes for duplex PCV2 and PCV3

Multiplex PCR for rapid detection of pseudorabies virus, porcine parvovirus and porcine circoviruses

open access: yesVeterinary Microbiology, 2004
A multiplex PCR (mPCR) assay was developed and subsequently evaluated for its effectiveness as a means to simultaneously detect multiple viral infections of swine. Specific primers for each of four common DNA viruses, namely, pseudorabies virus (PRV), porcine circovirus type I (PCV1), porcine circovirus type II (PCV2), and porcine parvovirus (PPV ...

Prevalence of porcine circoviruses 2 and 3 in wild boar in Serbia. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Diagn Invest
Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) and porcine circovirus 3 (PCV3) are prevalent pathogens that are economically important to the global swine industry. We investigated the prevalence of PCV2 and PCV3 in eastern Serbia by analyzing 166 wild boar samples with a real-time PCR assay.

Mechanisms of circovirus immunosuppression and pathogenesis with a focus on porcine circovirus 2: a review

open access: yesVeterinary Quarterly, 2023
Certain pathogens, due to their adverse effects on the immune reaction, aggravate the course of concomitant heterologous infections. Here we summarize mechanisms by which circoviruses, including the most studied porcine circovirus 2, and other mammalian ...

Reconstruction of the Evolutionary Origin, Phylodynamics, and Phylogeography of the Porcine Circovirus Type 3

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2022
Porcine circovirus type 3 (PCV3) is a newly identified virus associated with porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS) and multisystemic inflammatory responses in pigs. Recent studies suggests that PCV3 originated from bat circoviruses; however,
