Risk management externalities in agrifood supply chains
Abstract Firms may under‐ or over‐invest in risk management from the social planner's perspective, resulting in a negative externality on other economic agents in the supply chain. The externality of risk management is particularly relevant for agrifood supply chains, which frequently experience disruptions and play a primary role in preventing major ...

Detection and Genetic Diversity of Porcine Coronavirus Involved in Diarrhea Outbreaks in Spain
Porcine enteric coronaviruses include some of the most relevant viral pathogens to the swine industry such as porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) or porcine transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV) as well as several recently identified virus such ...

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a serious infectious causative agent in swine, especially in neonatal piglets. PEDV genotype 2 (G2) strains, particularly G2a, were the primary causes of porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) outbreaks in Vietnam. Here,

Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) and Porcine Deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) in Ontario: Incidence, Prevalence, and Forecasting of Cases and Trends [PDF]
This thesis is an investigation into measures of disease frequency for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) and Porcine Deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) in Ontario, as well as outbreak forecasts for Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus (PEDV) in Ontario ...

ABSTRACT Oxidative stress is a critical challenge in intensive swine production, particularly during weaning, compromising intestinal integrity and animal performance. N‐acetylcysteine (NAC) has emerged as a multifunctional nutritional strategy to mitigate these effects due to its role as a glutathione precursor and signaling modulator. This systematic

Sigma‐1 Receptor‐Targeting Compounds Show Antiviral Activity Across Multiple Coronavirus Models
ABSTRACT Over the past two decades, coronaviruses have caused three major public health crises, including the epidemics of SARS‐CoV, MERS‐CoV, and SARS‐CoV‐2. Following the outbreak of SARS‐CoV‐2, several antiviral drugs have been approved for the treatment of COVID‐19.

Alkaline stabilization of manure slurry inactivates porcine epidemic diarrhea virus [PDF]
Hydrated lime manure treatment was evaluated to determine porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) susceptibility to alkaline stabilization. At pH 10, PEDV decreased (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) and lost infectivity (swine bioassay).

Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) infection induces severe intestinal inflammation and acute diarrhea in piglets, yet the molecular mechanism remains incompletely understood. The M protein activates NLRP3 inflammasome through dual mechanisms: direct binding to the NLRP3 LRR domain and disruption of TRIM31‐mediated K48‐linked ubiquitination.
