Characterization of an antigenically distinct porcine rotavirus [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1982
A porcine virus with rotavirus morphology, which was antigenically unrelated to previously described rotaviruses, is described. Particles with an outer capsid layer measured 75 nm and those lacking the outer layer were 63 nm in diameter. Particles which resembled cores were also identified.

Rotavirus and Cystoisospora suis in piglets during the suckling and early post weaning period, in systems with solid floors and age segregated rearing

open access: yesPorcine Health Management, 2019
Background Piglet diarrhoea is considered a worldwide problem resulting in animal welfare problems and financial losses for pig farmers. Porcine rotavirus and the coccidian parasite Cystoisospora suis (C.

DETECTION OF PORCINE ROTAVIRUS FROM TISSUE AND FAECAL SPECIMENS [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2009
Porcine small intestinal sub-mucosa is a cell-free collagen matrix that has demonstrated its ability as a scaffold material. Transplantation poses special hazards because grafted tissues and organs transmit pathogens efficiently, especially viruses. Rotavirus is thought to be confined to the intestine, causing acute diarrhoea. The purpose of this study

Phylogenetic Analyses of Rotavirus A, B and C Detected on a Porcine Farm in South Africa

open access: yesViruses
Rotaviruses (RVs) are known to infect various avian and mammalian hosts, including swine. The most common RVs associated with infection in pigs are A, B, C and H (RVA-C; RVH).

Identification and characterization of porcine Rotavirus A in Chilean swine population. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Vet Sci, 2023
Rotavirus A (RVA) is a common cause of diarrhea in newborn pigs, leading to significant economic losses. RVA is considered a major public health concern due to genetic evolution, high prevalence, and pathogenicity in humans and animals. The objective of this study was to identify and characterize RVA in swine farms in Chile.

Molecular Characterization and Pathogenicity Analysis of Porcine Rotavirus A. [PDF]

open access: yesViruses
Porcine rotavirus A (RVA) is one of the major etiological agents of diarrhea in piglets and constitutes a significant threat to the swine industry. A molecular epidemiological investigation was conducted on 2422 diarrhea samples from Chinese pig farms to enhance our understanding of the molecular epidemiology and evolutionary diversity of RVA.

Structure and Function of a Ganglioside Receptor for Porcine Rotavirus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1998
ABSTRACTA ganglioside fraction isolated from pooled intestines from newborn to 4-week-old piglets, which we previously partially characterized and showed to specifically inhibit the binding of porcine rotavirus (OSU strain) to host cells (M. Sensitive detection systems for infectious agents in xenotransplantation*

open access: yesXenotransplantation, EarlyView., 2020
Abstract Xenotransplantation of pig cells, tissues, or organs may be associated with transmission of porcine microorganisms, first of all of viruses, to the transplant recipient, potentially inducing a disease (zoonosis). I would like to define detection systems as the complex of sample generation, sample preparation, sample origin, time of sampling ...
