Experimental Adaptation of Rotaviruses to Tumor Cell Lines. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
A number of viruses show a naturally extended tropism for tumor cells whereas other viruses have been genetically modified or adapted to infect tumor cells.

Serological survey of anti-group A rotavirus IgM in UK adults [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Rotaviral associated disease of infants in the UK is seasonal and infection in adults not uncommon but the relationship between these has been little explored.

Analysis of the structural polypeptides of a porcine group C rotavirus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1988
Polyacrylamide gel analysis of the structural polypeptides of purified group C virions allowed six major proteins to be identified. Of these, two (52,000- and 39,000-molecular-weight polypeptides) were shown to be in the outer virion shell as judged by the ability to strip them from virions by treatment with EDTA.

Season of birth and risk of rotavirus diarrhoea in children aged <5 years. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This study investigates whether a child's risk of rotavirus diarrhoea is associated with season of birth in England and Wales, countries where rotavirus infections are highly seasonal.

Plant‐Derived Probiotics From Fermented Foods: Current Evidence on Antiviral Mechanisms and Gut–Lung Axis Modulation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 6, November 2026.
Plant‐derived probiotics from fermented foods exert anti‐respiratory virus effects via immune regulation, antiviral metabolites, and gut–lung axis, highlighting their advantages, key technologies, and application prospects. ABSTRACT Respiratory viral infections represent a major global public health threat, causing widespread morbidity, mortality, and ...

Detection of nongroup A rotaviruses in faecal samples of pigs in the Czech Republic

open access: yesVeterinární Medicína, 2009
Besides group A rotaviruses, group B and C rotaviruses have been detected as the cause of diarrheal diseases in pigs. Of a set of 329 faecal samples from pigs, 16 samples were selected in which rotavirus was detected by electron microscopy and at the ...

The impact and complete genome characterisation of viruses involved in outbreaks of gastroenteritis in a farrow-to-finish holding

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Viral enteric pathogens continuously burden intensive pig farming, causing gastrointestinal diseases of epidemic and endemic nature. The present study investigated two diarrhoea outbreaks on a large farrow-to-finish holding and subsequent circulation of ...

A Bayesian Model for Estimation of Virus Reduction in Potable Reuse Treatment Trains and Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment of Waterborne Viral Pathogens

open access: yesRisk Analysis, Volume 46, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding virus occurrence and reduction at advanced treatment facilities for potable water reuse constitutes a high‐priority research need to protect human health and to enhance available water supply alternatives. The objectives were to (1) determine log reduction values (LRVs) of 15 viruses by advanced wastewater treatment; (2) evaluate

Morphogenesis of Porcine Rotavirus in Porcine Kidney Cell Cultures and Intestinal Epithelial Cells

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1978
The morphogenesis of porcine rotavirus was similar in vitro in porcine kidney (PK) cell cultures and in vivo in porcine epithelial cells as examined by electron microscopy. Infected cells contained cytoplasmic, non-membrane-bound viroplasm and accumulations of virus particles within cisternae of the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER).

Strategies for inducing diabetes in laboratory animals: Advances from chemical, surgical, immunologic, dietary, and genetic approaches

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, Volume 9, Issue 8, Page 1548-1566, August 2026.
This review summarizes the principal experimental approaches used to induce diabetes in animal models. Strategies include chemical agents (streptozotocin, alloxan, dithizone, gold thioglucose), dietary interventions (high‐fat and high‐sugar diets), surgical methods (total or partial pancreatectomy), genetic models (db/db, ob/ob, Goto‐Kakizaki [GK ...
