A positivity preserving and oscillation-free entropy stable discontinuous Galerkin scheme for the reactive Euler equations [PDF]

open access: yes
The reactive Euler equations are a basic model for fluid flows with chemical reactions. In this work, we construct a high order positivity preserving and oscillation-free entropy stable discontinuous Galerkin (DG) scheme for the reactive Euler equations.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Positivity preserving operator splitting nonstandard finite difference methods for SEIR reaction diffusion model

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2019
In this work, we will introduce two novel positivity preserving operator splitting nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) schemes for the numerical solution of SEIR reaction diffusion epidemic model.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Positive explicit and implicit computational techniques for reaction–diffusion epidemic model of dengue disease dynamics

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2020
The aim of this work is to develop a novel explicit unconditionally positivity preserving finite difference (FD) scheme and an implicit positive FD scheme for the numerical solution of dengue epidemic reaction–diffusion model with incubation period of ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

High order positivity-preserving finite volume WENO schemes for a hierarchical size-structured population model

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we develop high order positivity-preserving finite volume weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) schemes for solving a hierarchical size-structured population model with nonlinear growth, mortality and reproduction rates.

Issues with Positivity-Preserving Patankar-type Schemes

open access: yes, 2022
Patankar-type schemes are linearly implicit time integration methods designed to be unconditionally positivity-preserving. However, there are only little results on their stability or robustness.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...
