Idea of Evidence in Phenomenological Outlook: Deconstruction and Reactualization of Cartesian Legacy. First article: Excessiveness of Evidence

open access: yesSententiae, 2016
The article deals with the problem of phenomenological interpretation of Cartesian idea of evidence. The author demonstrates that implicit but constitutive characteristic of evidence is a property of excessiveness. The analysis of its conceptual versions

On the Possibility of Large Axion Decay Constants

open access: yes, 2003
The decay constant of the QCD axion is required by observation to be small compared to the Planck scale. In theories of "natural inflation," and certain proposed anthropic solutions of the cosmological constant problem, it would be interesting to obtain ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Peter Lombard on God’s Knowledge and Its Capacities: Sententiae, Book I, Distinctions 38-39

open access: yesSententiae, 2018
The global Peter Lombard research reinaugurated in 1990s has resulted in a number of recent publications, but the Master of the Sentences’ theology proper is partially underreseached. In particular, a more detailed exposition of the distinctions 35-41 of

Materiality, Parthood, and Possibility [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper offers an argument in favour of a Lewisian version of concretism that maintains both the principle of material inheritance (according to which, if all the parts of an object x are material, then x is material) and the materiality-modality link

Possible Worlds

open access: yes, 2020
Modality concerns what might or must be the case. Modal expressions are typically intensional. An expression α is intensional just in case the substitution of extensionally equivalent expressions under the scope of a need not preserve truth. Modal realism is the view that modal propositions are grounded in the existence of concrete, non-actual ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

On the Possibility of a Trans-Planckian Duality

open access: yes, 2009
We investigate the possibility of a trans-Planckian duality, which exchanges a manifold of events (space-time), with a manifold of momenta (energy-momentum). Gravity has a dual counter-part, that is, a geometric theory defined on the manifold of momenta.

POSSIBILITY THEORY II: CONDITIONAL POSSIBILITY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of General Systems, 1997
Abstract It is shown that the nolion of conditional possibility can be consistently iniroduced in possibility theory, in very much the same way as conditional expectations and probabilities are defined in the measure- and integral-theoretic treatment of probability theory.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
