Inhibiting Liver‐Derived C3 Protein Rescues Anesthesia/Surgery‐Induced Cognitive Impairment, Synaptic Disorders, and Microglial Phagocytosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study provides evidence that anesthesia/surgery can induce the BBB breakdown and promote the release of hepatogenous C3 protein into the blood. This surgical dual factors ultimately drove C3 to cross the damaged BBB and selectively colocalize with C3aR in the hippocampus, which results in structural and functional injury of synapse, C3aR‐mediated ...

Laser Ultrasound Super‐Resolution Imaging for Multi‐Parametric Non‐Invasive Volumetric Characterization of Brain Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laser ultrasound super‐resolution imaging (LUSSI) leverages laser‐generated ultrasound for functional 3D transcranial imaging of brain tumor vasculature. Combined with optoacoustic tomography, it is demonstrated in a glioblastoma model, revealing structural abnormalities, compressed vessels, hemorrhages, and hypoxic regions.

Targeted Delivery of CNS‐Specific Hesperidin as a Leptin Sensitizer for Treating Obesity‐Associated Sleep‐Disordered Breathing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hesperidin nanoparticles (HE NPs) effectively combat obesity and sleep‐disordered breathing in mice by enhancing leptin sensitivity. Through suppression of hypothalamic endoplasmic reticulum stress and restoration of leptin signaling, HE NPs promote weight loss and improve breathing during sleep.

RIPK1 Drives JAK1‐STAT3 Signaling to Promote CXCL1‐Mediated Neutrophil Recruitment in Sepsis‐Induced Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article examines the central role of RIPK1 in the pathogenesis of sepsis‐induced lung injury. It elucidates how RIPK1 initiates an inflammatory cascade by activating JAK1‐STAT3 signaling, leading to CXCL1‐mediated neutrophil infiltration. Importantly, it demonstrates that pharmacological inhibition of RIPK1 effectively attenuates inflammation and ...

Effect of intraoperative infusion of low-dose ketamine on management of postoperative analgesia

open access: yesJournal of Natural Science Biology and Medicine, 2015
Background: Use of opioids for perioperative analgesia is associated with sedation, respiratory depression and postoperative nausea and vomiting. N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antagonist such as ketamine has both analgesic and antihyperalgesic properties.

Single‐Cell Transcriptome Atlas Reveals the Underlying Mechanism of Kynurenic Acid in the Regulation of Tumor Immune Microenvironment in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
KYNA regulates the tumor immune microenvironment in glioblastoma. KYNA reprograms the balance between T cell exhaustion and activation to suppress glioblastoma progression through inhibiting exhaustion‐associated markers (such as PD‐1, LAG3, and TOX) and enhancing immune activation and cytotoxicity markers including granzymes GZMA and GZMB.

Constructing Dual‐Atomic Fe─Fe Sites Nanozyme for Targeted Osteoarthritis Therapy through Mitigating Oxidative Stress and Cartilage Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel bimetallic nanozyme (Fe2–NCs) with well‐defined Fe–Fe active sites is synthesized through a host–guest coordination strategy, which exhibits an exceptional therapeutic efficacy in osteoarthritis therapy. Experimental and theoretical analyses uncover the intrinsic catalytic mechanism at the atomic level, offering fundamental insights and design ...

Effects of continuous fascia iliaca compartment blocks for postoperative analgesia in patients with hip fracture

open access: yesPain Research and Management, 2015
Orthopedic surgery patients often experience severe postoperative pain, and effective analgesia is essential. In this study, the authors compared continuous fascia iliaca compartment block with patient-controlled intravenous analgesia using fentanyl ...

Allele‐Specific Regulation of PAXIP1‐AS1 by SMC3/CEBPB at rs112651172 in Psychiatric Disorders Drives Synaptic and Behavioral Dysfunctions in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a functional noncoding variant, rs112651172 (C/G), that drives allele‐specific expression of PAXIP1‐AS1 in monozygotic twin pairs discordant for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The risk G allele enhances CEBPB binding, leading to lncRNA upregulation, CNTNAP3 derepression, and synaptic and behavioral deficits in mice.

Epidural nalbuphine for postoperative analgesia in orthopedic surgery

open access: yesAnesthesia Essays and Researches, 2015
Background: The challenging task of postoperative pain relief comes within the realm of the anesthesiologist. Combined spinal epidural (CSE) anesthesia can be used as the sole technique for carrying out surgical procedures and managing postoperative pain
