A new family of outwardly rectifying potassium channel proteins with two pore domains in tandem. [PDF]
Potassium channels catalyse the permeation of K+ ions across cellular membranes and are identified by a common structural motif, a highly conserved signature sequence of eight amino acids in the P domain of each channel's pore-forming alpha-subunit. Here

Potassium Channels in the Human Myometrium
The contractility of the human uterus is under the fine control of a variety of interacting bioactive agents. During labour, the excitability of the uterus is drastically transformed in comparison with the non‐labour state and is manifest at the membrane level via the acivity of uterine ion channels.

Designing for Degradation: Transient Devices Enabled by (Nano)Cellulose
Recent progress in transient devices enabled by (nano)cellulosic materials is reviewed. Transiency mechanisms, advantages of nanocelluloses, and a suite of applications are discussed. A circular thinking approach coupled with life cycle assessment is applied to critically revisit the potential, advantages, and challenges of nanocellulose‐enabled ...

Calcium and Potassium Channels in Experimental Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Transient Global Ischemia
Healthy cerebrovascular myocytes express members of several different ion channel families which regulate resting membrane potential, vascular diameter, and vascular tone and are involved in cerebral autoregulation.

A Surprising Clarification of the Mechanism of Ion-channel Voltage-Gating [PDF]
An intense controversy has surrounded the mechanism of voltage-gating in ion channels. We interpreted the two leading models of voltage-gating with respect to the thermodynamic energetics of membrane insertion of the voltage-sensing 'module' from a comprehensive set of potassium channels.

The scorpion toxin and the potassium channel
The structure of a complex containing a toxin bound to a potassium ion channel has been solved for the first time, revealing how scorpions have designed toxins that can recognize and target the filter that controls the movement of potassium ions through these channels.

KCNKØ: opening and closing the 2-P-domain potassium leak channel entails "C-type" gating of the outer pore. [PDF]
Essential to nerve and muscle function, little is known about how potassium leak channels operate. KCNKØ opens and closes in a kinase-dependent fashion. Here, the transition is shown to correspond to changes in the outer aspect of the ion conduction pore.

A rapid surface reconstruction strategy is proposed to enhance the charge collection efficiency and stability of indium sulfide (In2S3) photoanode via a high‐temperature flame treatment. This method selectively transforms the In2S3 surface into a diffusionless In2O3 and generates bulk sulfur vacancies, resulting in surface‐reconstructed In2S3 (sr‐In2S3)
