Ag Cluster‐Modified K0.5Na0.5NbO3 Piezocatalyst for Enhanced Electrochemical Dinitrogen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ag cluster‐modified K0.5Na0.5NbO3 acts as an efficient piezocatalyst for electrochemical N2 reduction, enhanced by built‐in electric fields under mechanical actuation. Comparative studies between static and actuated electrodes reveal improved performance under dynamic conditions.

Potassium channel-based optogenetic silencing

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Optogenetic tools enable precise experimental control of the behaviour of cells. Here, the authors introduce a genetically-encoded two-protein system that enables silencing of excitable cells such as neurons and cardiomyocytes using blue light, and ...

Inactivation of Kv2.1 Potassium Channels [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 1998
We report here several unusual features of inactivation of the rat Kv2.1 delayed rectifier potassium channel, expressed in Xenopus oocytes. The voltage dependence of inactivation was U-shaped, with maximum inactivation near 0 mV. During a maintained depolarization, development of inactivation was slow and only weakly voltage dependent (tau = 4 s at 0 ...

Surface Modification of Sol–Gel Synthesized Ba0.85Ca0.15Zr0.1Ti0.9O3 using Stearic Acid Additives

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores a novel approach to enhance the piezoelectric performance of lead‐free BCZT ceramics synthesized via the sol–gel method. By coating the BCZT powder with only a 0.69 nm stearic acid layer, the electromechanical response is significantly boosted up to 359 pC N−1, revealing promising implications for high‐performance sensor and ...

Mechanically Adaptable High‐Performance p(SBMA‐MMA) Copolymer Hydrogel with Iron (II/III) Perchlorate for Wearable Thermocell Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
A high‐performance n‐type element for quasi‐solid‐state thermocells has been introduced, outperforming conventional p‐type elements and showcasing the potential to harness body heat as an energy source or power embedded sensors. This advance significantly contributes to waste thermal energy harvesting and wearable technology, paving the way for self ...

Deletion of the Ca2+-activated potassium (BK) alpha-subunit but not the BK-beta-1-subunit leads to progressive hearing loss [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The large conductance voltage- and Ca2+-activated potassium (BK) channel has been suggested to play an important role in the signal transduction process of cochlear inner hair cells.
