Potency testing of killed polio vaccine in rats.

Developments in biological standardization, 1980
Various laboratory animal species were considered for testing the potency of killed poliovaccine. The rat appeared most suitable for obtaining quantitative information by measuring the titre of the antibody response. There was, in general, a good correlation between antibody response in rats and D-antigen titre.

Potency testing of bacterial vaccines for human use

Veterinary Microbiology, 1993
The potency tests for bacterial vaccines are quite diverse. For some products (pertussis, cholera, anthrax, typhoid and BCG vaccines) these are specified as Additional Standards in the Code of Federal Regulations. For other products (tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, plague vaccine) the testing is done according to so-called Minimum Requirements, which ...

Proposed Potency Testing of Smallpox Vaccine

The Journal of Immunology, 1961
Summary and Conclusions From the results of the studies described here, it is obvious that immediate application of titration in rabbit kidney tissue culture is a valid measure of smallpox vaccine potency only for the virus strain and passage levels employed.

Potency testing of bovine tuberculins.

Developments in biological standardization, 1987
The diagnosis of bovine tuberculosis is based on the intradermal tuberculin test. Therefore in eradication campaigns HCSM or PPD tuberculins with high potency and maximal specificity per cattle dose are needed. In quality control and standardization assays the PPD tuberculins have the advantage that the protein content can serve as a basis for ...

Rabies Vaccine Potency and Stability Testing

1988
It is 100 years since Louis Pasteur carried out the first immunization of humans against rabies virus infection. Although great advances have been made in the development of more effective and purified vaccines, vaccines produced in adult or suckling animal nervous tissue are still in use in many countries.
