Molecular evolution and adaptations of Legionella pneumophila from amoebae hosts to macrophages

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
Legionella pneumophila is an environmental bacterium that emerged from a prolonged co-evolution and adaptation to free-living amoebae as the natural hosts. Within these protozoan hosts, L.

Gut Mycobiota‐Associated Tryptophan Catabolites Protect Against Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

Dissecting the Ecological Structure of Health and Disease in the Global Gut Microbiome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We introduce Wiredancer, a framework that identifies three continuous ecological factors of the gut microbiota. These factors exhibit distinct patterns across health and disease, jointly capturing disrupted ecological stability and offering a new perspective for precision diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.

CD4+ Tregs Drive Post‐Ischemic Sprouting Angiogenesis via Endothelial YY1/MAML1 Reactivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microvascular complications of diabetes are chronic diseases of small vessels. We previously found that CD4+ regulatory T‐cells (Tregs) are markedly reduced in type 2 diabetes (T2D) after ischemic injury in both mice and humans, and that Treg deficiency in immunodeficient mice impairs vascular regeneration.

The Effect of Salt and Temperature on the Growth of Fresco Culture

open access: yesFermentation, 2018
The effect of environmental factors, including temperature and water activity, has a considerable impact on the growth dynamics of each microbial species, and it is complicated in the case of mixed cultures.

Hijacking the Host Clock: A Nematode Effector Antagonizes Soybean Circadian Defense and Translation Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Soybean employs its circadian clock, governed by GmCCA1, to rhythmically defend against soybean cyst nematodes. The pathogen retaliates by secreting the effector Hg4E02, which hijacks the clock to suppress defense and co‐opt the host's translation machinery for nutrient acquisition.

Effect of pH and temperature on Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O157:H7 isolated from bovine reservoir [PDF]

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
The aim of this study was to evaluate the individual and combined effect of pH (between 4.0 and 7.0) and storage temperature (between 6 and 35°C) on two wild-type E. coli O157:H7 (STEC 902 and STEC 2004) strains.
