Comparison on the coercivity enhancement of sintered NdFeB magnets by grain boundary diffusion with low-melting (Tb, R)75Cu25 alloys (R= None, Y, La, and Ce)

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
A significant coercivity enhancement of the commercial NdFeB magnets with the magnetic properties of (BH)max = 48.4 MGOe and iHc = 17.5 kOe through grain boundary diffusion (GBD) with low-melting Tb55R20Cu25 alloys is demonstrated.

DNS Study of Spherically Expanding Premixed Turbulent Ammonia-Hydrogen Flame Kernels, Effect of Equivalence Ratio and Hydrogen Content

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In this study, 3D premixed turbulent ammonia-hydrogen flames in air were studied using DNS. Mixtures with 75%, 50% and 25% ammonia (by mole fraction in the fuel mixture) and equivalence ratios of 0.8, 1.0 and 1.2 were studied.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Identifying the location and micellization of PEG-b-PCL multiblock copolymers in PLA/PCL blends via AFM nanoscale IR spectroscopy

open access: yesPolymer Testing
The IR absorption mapping of two multiblock copolymers based on poly(ethylene glycol) and poly(ε-caprolactone) segments (PEG-b-PCL) in poly(acid lactic) and poly(ε-caprolactone) blends (PLA/PCL) was performed via AFM nanoscale IR spectroscopy.

Impact of diffusion barriers to small cytotoxic molecules on the efficacy of immunotherapy in breast cancer. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Molecular-focused cancer therapies, e.g., molecularly targeted therapy and immunotherapy, so far demonstrate only limited efficacy in cancer patients. We hypothesize that underestimating the role of biophysical factors that impact the delivery of drugs ...

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Duplex Stainless Steel Laser‐Surface Textured: Stability in Brine Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐surface treatment (LST) of duplex DSS2205 steel is performed to increase its stability in brine solution under cyclic electrochemical assays. The superior protection with respect to flat and smooth panels is attributed to the presence of FeCr2O4 as the main protective oxide layer in the LST surface, after corrosion tests. The stability

Diffusion with preferential relocation in a confining potential

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Mechanics: Theory and Experiment
Abstract We study the relaxation of a diffusive particle confined in an arbitrary external potential and subject to a non-Markovian resetting protocol. With a constant rate r, a previous time τ between the initial time and the present time t is chosen from a given probability distribution

Interactions between Molten High‐Silicon Electrical Steels and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Elinvar Materials: Recent Progress and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Elinvar materials, exhibiting temperature‐invariant elastic modulus, are critical for precision instruments and emerging technologies. This article reviews recent progress in the field, with a focus on the anomalous thermoelastic behavior observed in key material systems.
