Increased firing irregularity as an emergent property of neural-state transition in monkey prefrontal cortex. [PDF]
Flexible behaviors are organized by complex neural networks in the prefrontal cortex. Recent studies have suggested that such networks exhibit multiple dynamical states, and can switch rapidly from one state to another.

Anterior Prefrontal Cortex Contributes to Action Selection through Tracking of Recent Reward Trends [PDF]
The functions of prefrontal cortex remain enigmatic, especially for its anterior sectors, putatively ranging from planning to self-initiated behavior, social cognition, task switching, and memory.

Brain‐Wide Spatiotemporally Distinct Traveling Waves Drive Anxiety‐Like Behaviors in Mice
J.Liu et al. reveal the complete propagation dynamics of cortical traveling waves, from local circuitry initiation to long‐range propagation, and identify their functional relevance in modulating anxiety‐like behaviors and underlying cellular neuroplasticity in mice.

An AI‐powered system decodes emotional valence from mouse facial expressions, identifying ear dynamics as key indicators. By integrating facial kinematics with synchronized neural recordings, this approach establishes a direct link between behavior and brain activity, advancing automated emotion recognition in animal models.

Prefrontal cortex glutamate and extraversion [PDF]
Extraversion is considered one of the core traits of personality. Low extraversion has been associated with increased vulnerability to affective and anxiety disorders. Brain imaging studies have linked extraversion, approach behaviour and the production of positive emotional states to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) and glutamatergic ...

Short‐term intravenous treatments with iPSC‐derived mononuclear phagocytes (iMPs) improve cognitive decline and neural health in two mouse models of aging and in the 5xFAD mouse model of Alzheimer's disease. iMPs reduce levels of serum amyloid proteins that increase in aging and improve the health of hippocampal microglia and mossy cells.
